Thanks for doing the legwork there. That does align with my layperson's understanding of genetics and points out that I need to clarify for myself what I think a "gene" is ... or maybe not as I am just a layperson, but probably, as I am an opinionated layperson.
Wdym? It's based on your allele, which has a certain number of tandem repeats. One makes you an early bird and the other makes you a night owl

I also hate getting up early, sadly it's just another thing that makes the day more unbearable.

My vocabulary in this region has become rusty through disuse. I find it difficult to keep all areas sharp at once. There are more than half a million words in this language, haha.

We just transitioned from me realising I gotta trim my definition for a gene and now you remind me the word allele exists

See my issue was PEBCAK, not your information, the experiment, the sources, simply Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard, ie, I forgot many things and that turned me ignorant. Now I know what I need to refresh, so I apologise for being ignorant and appreciate your patience
I mean you could teach me all the things I forgot and I appreciate your sources and the work you're putting in it's just embarrassing to be this ignorant and I prefer to go fix it in shame by myself hahaha

Most of society wants to be awake during the day. Funny thing is, there are millions of people out there working the nightshift to keep society afloat. Yet, most of society operates in the day so nightshift folks just have to figure out groceries and forget about socializing a lot.

I don't want to work at all. My motive to ctb is to escape having to work lol
Most of society wants to be awake during the day.
Is that due to biology?

I hate the birds singing because they would always wake me up when I was at college. They literally sang at 4 and 5 am. I was chronically sleep deprived when I was in college lol
Yes, me too now. I loved it as a child, but since I developed insomnia, bird singing reminds me that I failed to fall asleep yet another night again during periods of extreme insomnia in summer. That is because I live so high up north that it starts becoming light already at 3am in summer. So birds start singing at 2.30-3.00am.

Probably because they see it as a sign of productivity. I've even seen some people say that they wish that they woke up at 5am so that they can be productive more. It's bizarre to me as to how productive people want to be. I think I'd prefer to being a night owl but I get tired too easily so I always end up sleeping early

Capitalism has made work unenjoyable.

No, biology shows humans have diverse sleeping patterns.

Most people pre-industrial times had biphasic sleep, meaning they slept about 3-4 hours, were then awake for a few hours around 3am and then slept again 3-4 hours.

She says that I should be "up by now." She wants me to have "good habits" and "live a healthy lifestyle." Why is waking up early seen as something honorable and virtuous though?
I wouldn't say that getting up early is a sign of (good) character per se. But generally speaking the things that require effort will benefit you in the long run. If you're a night owl and you need to wake up early then you require discipline to set yourself a healthy sleep schedule and stick to it. And discipline is a good characteristic, i.e. a sign of character.

Some people (like me) are night owls. I'm nocturnal.
I used to be a night owl: staying up late and generally being quite productive in the late hours. But I became unhappy with waking up late and starting my day when everyone I know had started their day many hours earlier. So I thought hard about changing my sleep schedule and realised that the main reason for staying up late is that I love the silence. The world seems to vanish when darkness looms outside my window. Everyone I know is asleep—no (unexpected) social expectations—and I can do whatever I want without the worry of getting interrupted or distracted with stressful situations.

Still, I wanted to change my sleep schedule for the better but didn't want to lose this moment of my day. So I started to go to bed exceptionally early and when I woke up around 3:30 AM, fresh and fully awake, I realised that the early morning has the same benefits as the late night does. Additionally, mentally, I'm a lot sharper than I would be late at night. In the Summer, it's light outside by 5:30 AM and to see the empty city by the light of day is kind of peaceful when there's no other human in sight.

If you love the late night hours for the same reason I do (or did) then try the early hours of the day. But be aware that changing your sleep schedule by several hours will feel like a jet lag. Google says that it takes about a day for each shifted hour for your mind to get used to the new sleep schedule. For me, it took about 4 days for my biological clock to fully adjust itself to the new times.

I used to be a night owl and now I'm an early bird. Since I changed, I believe no one is inherently one of the two. So if you decide to get into the early bird mindset then I hope you'll love it as much as I do.

Somebody said I am just an owl because of avoidance and I need to adapt and refuse to. Why do I need to adapt? Why am I at fault? Just because my preferred time of day or rather night doesn´t fit their idea? I hate it when people try to push you into a ready made mould they apply. If I don´t comply I am the problem? Maybe their narrow minded selves are the problem and they need to be more tolerant rather than accusing sb of incompetence if we disagree.

Because if they had their way, they would ask owls to not be awake at night as their hooting disturbs their sleep. Remember if a human says you are wrong and can't adapt you must obey peasant! It's the societal way!

My own personal pet theory (that I have no evidence for) is that different people respond to blue light differently, which affects what time their body starts releasing melatonin and whatnot, and ultimately what time they fall asleep at. Personally I think I'm very sensitive to blue light, which the modern world is chock full of, so if left to my own devices I end up falling asleep in the early morning (3-6am). But I think back in hunter-gatherer times, I probably would've fallen asleep at a more reasonable time, like midnight.

I get up at 4AM. Been doing it for so long, that it's all I know. Like to have a couple of hours of darkness in the sky, before the sunrise. Very peaceful.
Your body wants to sleep during the night-time, typically. It's easier to wake up at 4 in the morning and then stay awake until 10 at night, than it is to do the opposite.
