Haven't been able to find the answer to this, and have read conflicting information on the forums

Certain protein pump inhibitors can work with SN method, such as: Nexium or Omeprazole.

But why can't the others work as well? Especially if they have similar properties of reducing stomach acid?

More specifically, why can't these work:
- Pantoprazole magnesium (Tecta)
- Sandoz Rabeprazole (Aciphex)

I'm interested in knowing this as well.
Just curious, what source says that nexium and omeprazole can be taken with sn?

Another voice to that question of what source indicates Nexium can be taken with SN? What about bicarbonate, aloe vera gel, digestive enzymes? Thanks.

The PPH recommends that Tagamet (cimetidine) be taken with the antiemetic prior to taking SN in order to increase absorption (and says Tagamet is better to use than Mylanta, etc.). If Tagamet can't be sourced, the PPH says that Nexium or omeprazole (Prilosec) can be used instead in order to reduce gastric acid.

Thanks for the clarification.
How long before the SN are the nexium and omeprazole recommended? PPIs usually kick in slower than antacids, that's why I'm wondering.

There isn't anything in the PPH that says these other PPIs won't work, it just doesn't mention them. It does mention concerns about meds like Mylanta, which coat the stomach lining, possibly inhibiting maximum absorption (which is what you're aiming for).
Thanks for the clarification.

80mg of PPI 40 mins prior to taking SN. Just one or the other - not both. Recommended to take at the same time as the antiemetic.
