With my CTB planned for 6 days time, I've been wrapping things up and one thing to do is choose the songs/music I'd like to listen to before I die.

I've often been listening to Giles Corey (album), especially No One Is Ever Going to Want Me, which feels so raw and comforts me in a way not many other albums or songs do. I also like to listen to more instrumental or electronic type music like M83, but also classics like Pink Floyd and Radiohead. I'm thinking M83's Wait will likely be a song I listen to during CTB. It's so calming to me and feels like the freedom and peace I'm looking for.

What songs or music are you planning to listen to during your CTB?

Oh man I enjoy Pearl Jam too. Do you like the song Release by any chance? Which is your favourite song by them if you don't mind me asking?

So nice .. i also wish to not be alone when cbd but i have to
I find it so strange that I agree with you, in the way of not wanting to be alone during ctb. Because it is such a personal choice and experience I guess and even though I originally wanted to be alone during it and am planning to be, I do feel this slight desire to have wanted someone close to me there too. Maybe because I'm realising just how real and permanent this is, I honestly don't know. Or maybe it's just the innate desire and pull for connection I feel despite always pushing others away. I feel like we all have this within us, to want to belong and be close with others or maybe I'm wrong and its just me...

What are your feelings about this - not wanting to be alone during ctb?

My favorite is "Black", I know, not very original, it's one of their biggest hits.
Release, is ok. A bit boring, because it's so long.

Adrianne Lenker's "come" and "not a lot, just forever". My mom never sang lullabies to me, and Adrianne's voice sounds like a soothing mother. It's comforting. I want to be sung to sleep one last time.

I've really appreciated this thread: I'm into classical so it will be the last of Strauss' 4 last songs: all about death, but otherwise I think of go with pink Floyd too

Last summer I had a playlist of sad(dish) Beatles songs I was gonna loop. A day in the life, for no one, fixing a hole, the fool on the hill, the long and winding road, im only sleeping, golden slumbers, a day in the life, and more I'm probably forgetting. If I remember correctly the last song on the playlist was the end, which I thought was very poetic of me.

Just the sounds of nature. I don't want my phone to ping off nearby towers and make it easier to discover me during or after, so no music for me.

I understand. Are you planning to ctb outside, like in a forest, if it's okay to ask? I imagine it would be peaceful.

This is the spot I would like to be my final resting place, but I'm still scouting the other side of the Mesa that is more remote to look for the highest point with minimal ledges. The terrain is tough and it's a long hike for me, so it's a bit hard to scout and plan. I'm also trying to think over if I want to prioritize the guarantee it will work and I won't be found for a few days, or first responders resources and safety as this is unforgiving terrain + rattlesnake territory. I don't want to waste a ton of resources and put others at risk. I'm in pain but I don't want to cause my community and first responders a ton of grief trying to find and recover my body for my family.

Right now I think I'd like to listen to The End of the World by Skeeter Davis, the lyrics do resonate with me a lot and I think it'd just be a nice song to listen to as I die. It also played in the scene of one of the characters' suicide in Girl, Interrupted, so in a way I was kind of inspired by that scene too.

What a beautiful place to leave from, And a massive thank you for being so considerate of those who would have to make the journey for your remains.

Thank you for sharing. I find it really telling how much you care and are trying to prevent causing others grief, you sound like a good person... I wish you only the best and peace on your journey too.

Have a nice life has some great songs. I can imagine listening to A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut... sort of mimics the trance like state I feel myself slipping into and most likely will be in right before ctb. What's your favourite song by them and thanks for sharing :)
