Endless cacophony
no sign of sympathy
I wish for a silence
that is not won easily
I wish now to sit
and cut it all off
to destroy the fetters
that weigh on the mind
there is a sadness
that weighs on me
as I remember what was
and what might be
it follows me 'round
and presses down
tension confronts
and pushes me onward
the grief teaches lessons
that no other can
but silence is courage
this too shall pass
