I think about that, and I assess every situation accordingly. If I think people are about to turn themselves into a vegetable or they do have a very good chance of saving themselves, I help out
Okay, so I have a gf, have many talents and capabilities, can face a future with lots of money and etc., why should I stay?

@ClonesAnnoyMe Sorry, I might be wrong, but seems that you are not familiar with pro-choice philosophy.

I would argue that it's you who aren't famiiar with pro-choice philosophy. This is pro-choice: "It's your right to commit suicide." This is also pro-choice: "It's your right to commit suicide, but I want to give you perspective on your situation." This is basically pro-suicide: "It's your right to commit suicide and no one has the right to discuss your decision with you." This is definitely pro-suicide: "It's your right to commit suicide, and other people only have the right to present arguments for your decision, not against it."

A factor that needs to be taken into account is that many people who come here cry for help and change their minds when they get the opportunity to discuss their situation with other people who also suffer. If they were 100 % intent on dying, they could as well have read up on the methods and killed themselves in silence without ever posting here. Some forum members really have problems which are impossible or at least extremely difficult to solve, perhaps most notably those of us who suffer from incurable illnesses, but there are also forum members who have problems that possibly could be solved.

I get that you're wary about people who seem to question this, as I see it, basic human right to die whenever and however you wish. I respect that and I''m not trying to attack you as a person, just point out that I think you're wrong in your assessment of @ClonesAnnoyMe.

Update: now replying on your post.
As you state, this is a pro-choice forum which means "It's your right to commit suicide, but I want to give you perspective on your situation."
In the cases which I demonstrated above, this is direct asking of people to stop. And as long as this is a pro-choice forum, I think it would be better to let people decide on their own and do not affect their choice. Begging to stop is a pro-life method, not a pro-choice. And in SS rules it is written: "Do not encourage, manipulate, or coerce users to carry out acts of any nature whatsoever, including suicide; only provide information and emotional support to those who ask for it. ". I agree with you if you read only this thread and disagree if you didn't read other. But you have a good point and I respect it.

I would say oxygen in my lungs, other than that nothing. I don't have anything in this life that could be interesting or important to me.

I honestly wish you find anybody who will enjoy time with you and love you! This is what you truly deserve! And I have to be alone, I am going soon, right now in a process of breaking up with my girlfriend. I was staying because of her a few years, but now have to go and say goodbye to her, I have to go this way alone...

I understand that, but why now? You've been with her all this time and only now decided to leave her, despite love?

She offered me to have a break because our relationships is in a dead end. I cannot miss the chance. Then it may be much worse. She has BPD, she suffers too. She will be on medication soon. I try to explain her everything right now, I don't want to make her suffer

I love my wife but plan to leave her for my final journey. Love isn't about ownership when she still has time and opportunity for someone better. My continued ownership of her will make her suffer longterm

Don't you think you gonna make her feel guilty cause she gave you a break and you CTBed after that? I'm no one to tell you, but you said you love her and she suffers, I would stay for her at least, I mean maybe it's time to sacrifice something for someone you love?

My survival instinct and not having meto or good plan.
Bit of joy I've allowed myself to have with someone in my life. But I know it won't last nor fix the mess I've made.

She may feel guilty but as I stated before, she has BPD, If I give her a promise and pass away, she may not survive...

My wife is the only reason I haven't cashed in my ticket. She is the angel who is there for me. If she weren't here, I wouldn't be either.

I don't have anyone like your wife, that's why I bought my ticket.

Well, there is something to think about. I understand you feel terrible but at the same time you're responsible for her. I think it is worth it.

My cats. They're so attached to me and affectionate. They taught me what unconditional love feels like. They need me to take care of them and they make me laugh and feel something other than depression when nothing else can.

I pass the time by building box forts covered in blankets for them to crash through while chasing each other. I wish I could share them with the rest of you guys.

I feel like I owe them more than an abrupt departure. Every time I get close to CTB, I think about how there'll be a last time I leave my apartment and the last time I pet them and say goodbye. It makes me cry just thinking about it. If anything ends up keeping me here, it'll be my pets.

On a day to day basis, well I have some unfinished goals and projects that I like to finish and reach it's conclusion, so (for now at least) I wake up everyday looking forward to finishing that and achieving those goals. Also, I know that while I'm just coping right now, my end will come and I will do everything I can to ensure that I am able to carry it out when the time (and opportunity) is right.

Not sure about cats, but after all these years, the one person I miss and worry the most is my labrador retriever...he is the best lover/friend/child/partner. I wish I will have him with me forever, sleeping with him and walking him is the best thing in my life, totally priceless

I wish I had a dog, (small apartment, unfortunately) my cats take walks on a harness and play fetch so they're kinda like dogs?

I love animals and the pure love and comfort they bring; I'm so glad you have your best friend. I hope you guys have lots of good times and happiness together.

I can already tell that we'll have agree to disagree on this one. Still, I'll share my two cents. Maybe this is simply semantics, but @ClonesAnnoyMe hasn't really encouraged anyone to carry out any act, only to refrain from carrying out an act. Also, if we look at the spirit of the law instead of the letter of the law, I think the rule you quote first and foremost is a safeguard against people manipulating other people into committing suicide. If that would happen, it would obviously be a disaster for this community. Finally, if he wants to help someone and possibly save them from a premature death, it doesn't mean that he is against suicide as such or anyone's right to commit suicide. As a, possibly limping, analogy I could be for the legalization of all drugs and everyone's right to use them, but still be worried that some people won't be able to handle them.

Since December, the only thing keeping me going is simply not succeeding in my suicide attempts (hanging). I just recently lost a good job, health benefits, was evicted, stopped paying my bills months ago because I thought I would be dead by now, so completely ruined my credit which was excellent. After being evicted, I had to move in with my dad in a new town. I've been here a month. When I first moved, I honestly thought I was going to try and start over.

But now I'm starting to face all the stress of how I handled my life in the last few months before my first attempts and feel like a complete burden here (because I definitely am), but am so physically and mentally sick that landing a new job and getting out of here seems almost impossible and I didn't realize it until I got down here. I really messed things up, mostly financially. The new stress, along with eeeeverything else, is just too much so I'm back to suicide again.

However, now that I don't live alone, I can't attempt it freely. So, I'm having to wait for the right time as there is almost always someone here. That is seriously, the only thing keeping me alive right now.
