Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

What is with people on here not being able to get rope?

I'm always so baffled at people's inability to get rope. It's like $0.10 a foot. Is it like banned in your countries? Do you live hours and hours away from building centers? I don't think I'll ever comprehend how people can secure SN through mystery people on the internet but can't get rope.

Whenever I read about someone not being able to get rope I assume they're a minor and should not be here or they are housebound with illness. I don't see any other reason that a person cannot get rope. You can buy it online even so yeah.
I laughed so hard when I read rhe thread title. Ahhh thank you for that. It's especially funny seeing in as I just bragged about finally getting rope today after waiting for a bit
So I am not a minor (I'm in my 20's). I had everything going for me. I had a girlfriend (the best thing ever about me), am apartment with her, a car, and a great job. After I ruined my life and she left me I tried to end things. Long story short, I failed, and I ended up flipping my car, losing my apartment and job, got sent to the hospital and had to move back in with my parents.
So with no car and my parents knowing I'm suicidal , there was no way foe me to get a rope. I had to order it online to a Amazon locker box and get a way there and back which wad risky.
But thank you for making me laugh

You just don't know what others are going through. Everyone is in different situations after all which affect their ability to access certain ctb materials.

I kinda get that but, if you have the internet (which every person on here does), there's no reason you can't buy some online. Having snoopy parents would be the only factor.

You really don't understand the conditions in the poorest countries at all- in the poorest countries they may not have an address or mail service even if they have a way to connect to the internet through some form of public wifi. Do you really think that in areas where most people are struggling to get food every day that they have mail carriers delivering mail every day? Thinking that is just being out of touch with reality.
In reality, those people are probably crying their eyes out over having to use whatever thin, shitty nylon bag handle they have instead of a rope they can't afford. While for others spending 10000 euros in Pegasus in the Netherlands on a 2000 dollar flight staying in a 300 euro per night room minus the food is a given. Probably just another boring weekend, should have brough more money

I do understand the conditions of the poorer countries, I just doubt that vast number of users on here live in third world countries. Every poll I've seen on here asking where people live, 90% of the people were from either North America and Europe.

If they are from an asian or middle esstern country, would the legal aftermath of a failed suicide or a busted delivery sound funny?
Having your arm lopped off in a Saudi prison for example might be a problem if you are a native.
For me it's not about not having a rope but more where do I hang from I tried to climb a tree to hang myself couple of years ago and as embarrassing as this sounds it just was not happening I have no stairs (apartment nothing strong enough to hold my weight high up tried partial hanging but must've done something wrong because I just would not pass out its actually harder than it sounds

Damn! I totally forgot Saudi Arabia's strict laws on owning rope...
But some are from third world countries. Of course in most places in North America and Europe getting rope isn't an issue, but some people have complications, such as those living in remote areas or dangerous areas and without a vehicle. I do vaguely remember at least one post from a third world country where a person cou]dn't get rope because it wasn't readily available in a poor area. The struggle is real from ctb, and each person has their own obstacles.

The beautiful thing about any building is that all you need is a rope, an eye bolt and a little bit of elbow greasy; every 16 inches inside walls and in ceiling, you have an extremely sturdy anchor point that will hold thousands of pounds.

Even better! You won't have to worry about missing a floor joist :p, just need a drill with a masonry bit and you can point to the skies with a blind fold and you'll still be striking gold haha

True also I don't live alone I could hang myself from stair rail if I had stairs while she was out but drilling and stuffs not so easy also a drill to go through cement in this country is really expensive
I def wanna try partial hanging again just got to figure out the kinks
Unless you have a landlord that paces the hallways 24/7/365 with his keys in hand with an already written eviction notice that trumps the 30 day notice requirements for an eviction, just ready to illegally enter your dwelling at the drop of a dime...
Yes, it's literally as easy as it seems. It would take you less than a minute to drill and install an eye bolt, tie your rope, and do your deed.

I get that. I'm just stating that it's normally more possible than people realize when it comes to hanging. Obviously if you're living with someone or don't have to tools or resources to get tools, it makes it much more difficult.

I know where I live it is in a nice suburban area with onsite property managers and onsite maintenance and what would happen if you tried this is someone in the building would call the managers right away, they have a 24 hgour service, and they woudl also call the police and the police would be there in under five minutes. Then you would go to jail for this destruction of the property and you would get five days notice to get your stuff out and leave, and since you would personally not be allowed in the property, friends or relatives would have to move your stuff- they would not play around and you'd be gone immediately.
