What if assisted suicide became legal near you?

i think i'd do it fairly fast. my main hangup is and i think will always be my animals, im scared my family wouldnt take care of them as well as me, especially after im gone since it might remind them of me. if it was legal, i would find someone reliable to take care of them in case my loved ones decided it was too much, i'd write all my notes, and then i'd do it. but even in the places where its legal, they have so many requirements i dont meet, so i dont know.

I'd likely still wait for my Dad to go first but after that- yeah- I'm sure I'd make use of it. Can you imagine what a relief that would be?!! I mean- I still personally think there should be safeguards- a six month waiting list maybe to prevent impulsive attempts but yeah- that would feel so different.
All the things we're worrying about gone- will my DIY attempt fail? Will I make matters worse for mysef and become a vegetable/ get sent to a psyche ward? Who will find my body? Will it traumatize them? It will save a police investigation. Save the police getting involved at all. We won't tarnish a place with either the knowledge that a suicide happened there, or- the physical mess of it some poor sod will have to clear up. It won't have so many legal problems with it now- so- we may be able to warn our families in advance. We may even be able to donate our organs and help someone who desperately wants to live to do so. Yeah- it would be so much safer.

I would be in favour of it however I suspect it would only be available for those with terminal illnesses, which my mental illnesses wouldn't apply to, although I think you could argue they are terminal in that they don't go away and are continually degrading my quality of life.

It will be a humane place. People will treat each other well if they genuinely want people to live.
Some people will take more risks in their adventures, because they know that even if they fail, they don't need to suffer the horrible dying process. This can be good for the society.

I would apply immediately, but without telling my family 'til the day of the leave, because they would be devastated if I told them that I wanted so bad that opportunity so if I told them with time that I want to apply they would have interfered my application, not allowing me to get that chance.

I don't think there will ever be assisted sucided for the actual problem I personally have, while I cannot solve it and it cannot be solved by others (like therapy, meds).

It´s legal in some European countries and many people use this option (Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Germany). And in Sweden killing on demand is allowed, but only by private individuals, not by a doctor or an organization.

If they donate your organs I'll personally do it. But ctb is about getting free, I don't see freedom in anything "assisted", I'd rather do it on my own.

There is no organ donation and this is not possible, because for this the person must be alive.
I see freedom, but especially safety and guaranteed exclusion of failure with VAD. If you want to know exactly how a VAD works, visit the websites of the 6 VAD associations in Switzerland. Or read my numerous posts about VAD here in the forum.

I don't think this is correct I read somewhere organs can be taken from someone after the person died in certain time limit. Like in 4 hrs for heart 48 hrs for kidney the list goes on
It would be so amazing if it was legalised, it would prevent so much unnecessary suffering and torture, I wish this society was more compassion towards human suffering but that won't happen in the UK which is such an anti-suicide country. I'd feel so relieved if there was the option of a guaranteed, peaceful method without any method research and risks, such a thing would solve everything for me, but of course it's too good to be true in this hellish world.

I´m not talking about a hospital. I´m talking about the VAD associations in Switzerland and Germany. Please read the conditions of the VAD associations. Organ donation is not possible with any association.
This is such a dream, to me. What keeps me alive (for now, anyway) is the fear of attempting and failing; having to live with the psychiatric supervision and drama it would generate in my fucked up family. The stakes are so high. I wish severe depression were seen as deserving of palliative care (i.e. helping a person comfortably approach death). Assisted suicide could then be a practical option for people with treatment-resistant depression, with no stigma attached to it. The idea of being able to go thru the process of dying in a relaxed way is beautiful.

yes yes yes yes YES! I would definitely go with this option if it were available
This also allows me to say my last goodbyes face-to-face. I've always felt bad that my only way to communicate my suicidal intention without being restrained is by writing it into a letter that will only be read after my death

If it becomes legal near me, I'll be very happy to have it available in case I get a terminal illness. For the time being, I actually want to live again, which feels so bizarre considering I came close to attempting suicide twice this year. I think that an organ donation should be a requirement, just so that the person being euthanized can still have their good organs put to good use for those who want to live still.
Organ donation would be a great alternative to hiding it behind a paywall (like it would be in the US for instance), so I really hope this becomes legal and available in more countries or states.

yea, it would be better than my chosen method at the moment SN since it would keep my body without harm, maybe someone can utilize these organs I couldn't utilize and I'm sure it would have the least amount of pain possible.
I'd feel a wave of peace wash over me knowing that i wouldn't have to travel and go through hoops of shit to do it, hopefully it's not expensive either.
