'We need to stop being silent and talk about it / seek help etc'

Most people are just not prepared to talk about it, and as a result you can spend your life screaming for help and explain exactly what you need and only end up being judged for it. I was very gung-ho about getting treatment, clearly articulated my neuroses and disorder, and was treated with great suspicion and neglect for a long time. Then I was supposed to be surprised about my diagnoses lol

Many who stay silent are rightly concerned about this and that many people only have very temporary space and energy for the suicidal. Also, for those of us who may always be suicidal, there is no acceptance of that. So when people's reaction to suicide or secret struggles is a bland 'How awful, if only we talked more' it's very uncritical—there are things that must be done to enable talking.

(Tangentially, you see this a lot on social media, which has a component where everyone feels pressured to or obliged to give a response even if they don't have one - so non-responses like this get amplified. But being asked 'have you told somebody?' makes it hard for me to control my temper.)

I've ended in up in this terrible situation because of "getting help". I think there is big danger of being diagnosed with a mental health disorder when it is actuslly normal life problem or temp stress depression but if you go to mental health professional your stuck with label for life. Have been terribly damaged by a mental health drug but is all dismissed and part of my condition. It is funny now that I'm tortured beyond belief as a result and all this talking about mental health is just crap. Because people don't want to hear what im suffeting from mostly and certainly not that it is as a result of a mental health drug. People have cut me off mid conversation or try and change subject. And if they do listen there us always some advice that I cannot take on and is misunderstood as they are trying to match up my condition with something that they can imagine. When I die it will be more funded is needed for mental health. No mental health professional did this.

I don't know how common this is in other countries (I'm in the UK), but if you look grumpy or 'not happy' some men (usually strangers) take it upon themselves to tell you to 'cheer up love'. I hate it so much because these guys know nothing about you or the pain you're in, they just expect you to be a pretty face for them.
Exactly

Literally everything here, but specifically "Suicide is a temporary solution to a permanent problem", "Suicide is selfish", "Cheer up, it gets better!" and "You are leaving behind 1000 deaths."
Like, excuse me, what the fuck? None of these make sense!

Some that stand out for me include - "it gets better", "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem", and "everything happens for a reason".

I second THIS.

And also:

"If you really want to die, why are you still here? Because you don't want to die!"

"You have so much to do in your life."

"Suicide is not the answer."

Plus some certain phrases come along with DON'T and STOP.

I hate the first one the most! I attempted twice and failed both times. Killing yourself is hard. Plus the panic response/self preservation instincts kicks in if you wanna do something like hanging or jumping off a bridge.

As for the second one....what are we to do but struggle with our imposition until we die anyway.

As for the third, for people who want to end their own imposition - physician assisted suicides IS the best answer!

What fuck came up with the idea that life is a positive anyhow? I will never understand it!

Oh and the "BE POSITIVE!" shit.

All these cliches explain so much of how we are not able to be understood and how foolish the pro-lifers are. That's why I'd rather isolate myself hanging out here than talk to my friends about my shit in real life.

Wanted to punch the fucker who said that. No, I am not surrounded by friendships you stupid pro-life cunt. Not everyone has someone who cares about them.

The lengths that people will go to deter us from suicide are astonishing.

Were these from your parents? Two of these sounds like they're from my dad. He told me to Grow Up/Toughen Up and that "we've given you everything and now you're wasting it".

My dad is a useless wanker..lol

People are delusional. They think everyone has the same problems, the same brain, the same genetics, etc. So they assume you shouldn't be depressed or that it will get better just because they got better themselves.

God Only Gives You What You Can Take.
Why would God give someone addiction, abuse, poverty, rape, incest, disease, etc? Which has life long effects on your mental wellbeing. It's a very dismissive quote to me.

Any kind of toxic positivity is triggering. I hate it when people say 'suicide is never the answer'. We have the right to take our lives at a time of our own choosing. Nobody else has any say in it, it is our lives. We have no obligations to stay alive as we did not ask to exist in the first place.
I understand that things may get better for some people and they may feel differently over time, but for many people they have came to a conclusion that their lives are not worth living. Many people are in hopeless situations. Are people meant to suffer for decades until they die of old age. I think this phrase is incorrect as the right to die is accepted in many countries.

Today I got told :

Suicide is not a solution its just an escape

So close to getting it. Soooo clooose…

God Only Gives You What You Can Take.

This one just boggles the mind. Even if that were true, why would God do that? Like he's sitting up there on his computer throne, looking at one of us on his Holy iPad, saying, "Wow, look at her go! She really looks like she's on top of the world this morning. Things have really been falling into place for her for a while now. I bet she can handle …RAPE!" [Repeatedly mashes "rape" button]. I mean, mysterious ways and everything, but damn.

The cliches I really hate all start with "have you tried _____?" The thing they're asking about is usually some incredibly basic thing that literally everyone has tried, like "getting out and getting some sunshine," or "telling yourself every morning that you're going to have a great day." No, Second-Cousin Patti, I have actually never tried experiencing sunshine. As you may be aware, I am a 2,000-year-old vampire, and would combust. Thanks for commenting on my post though! Love the dog in your profile pic.

The most bizarre cheer-up speech I have ever heard came from a psychiatrist at a psyche unit I've been in several times. He said I shouldn't give up on life because even though I have suffered from clinical depression for most of my 49 years, the depression was probably caused by different things at different times. Like it could have been neglect and emotional abuse in childhood, then a young adulthood blighted by substance abuse and a near-total lack of life skills, then in my thirties it was failing to achieve goals related to establishing a career and a family of my own, etc. During his speech I just looked at him, wondering where he was going with that. Because while what he was saying made perfect sense, for the life of me I could not figure out why that would help. Was he suggesting that today's tedious problems would fade and be replaced by tomorrow's new and more-exciting problems? Or was the idea that I was pulling a lever on a giant slot machine that was going to hit a hot streak any second, and if I quit dutifully pulling away at the lever, I'd never get the triple cherries or whatever? I have no idea. That was at least unique, though.
