I was once prescribed risperidal / risperidone. Only 1mg. I had no problem using the 7 days sample. But about 1 month later I got a months supply and it was like a totally different drug. I had horrible akathesia & I just felt uncomfortable in my own body. Horrible (significantly More so than usual). However, the real reason I discontinued it was after a few days on that second try, I would wake up fine, and be a little foggy, but ok thru breakfast.
Then after breakfast; about 12hrs post dose / 30min after eating I'd feel so zapped of energy for about two hours. I recall it would also cause Parkinson like symptoms during this period. I would freeze up and not be able to move my legs/arms. I immediately told doc & she added
Cogentin / benzatropine. That was supposed to help but did nothing even at 2-6x recommended dose. Only way to relieve it was either smoking pot- instant relief and/or sleeping for 3-4hrs. I'd be fine when I woke up. After 5-7days of that madness I stopped taking them. Horrible feeling. Will never take any antipsychotic again.
