Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

i assume there have been suicidal engineers who could easily rig a set up where they set up a 12-gauge shotgun directly aimed at their head in bed while they sleep. it would require them to sleep with their head pinned in place, which I imagine shouldn't be too difficult. they can take a couple of months getting used to sleeping with the gun pointed at their immobilized head. (even more advanced engineers wouldn't need this, they could just set up sensors on their head to build a 3D model to approximate their brainstem location. and attach the gun to a robot arm that will aim for the brainstem)

when they feel they're finally at a point where they can exit existence, they activate the contraption: after a randomized number of nights, the shotgun will fire. so they don't know exactly when they'll die, to decrease the SI. every morning they wake up will simply be a surprise present.

obviously this is an inaccessible method to majority of people who want to die. but if i had the resources and know-how, this is how i would do it.

that's very creative but sounds very costly and time-consuming
sounds simpler to just fight your si and aim the 12 gauge at your brainstem
but it's a very unique way to die

It was surprising for me to read this post because I had this exact idea myself. Planned it never followed through though. Im not sure how much it would actually help with SI

Just found this thread today but have been thinking about this "method" for a while as well.

A big question is how to mount the gun - you'd basically need to weld a pretty tall metal frame around your bed which would act as the support for the gun pointed at your pillow. The easiest way to fixate the head in position is to take a motorbike helmet and also weld that to the frame. That way, there's very little chance of the gun missing it's target.

A gun that automatically aims at the brainstorm via axis motors, camera(s), and running software while you sleep probably has too high risk of failure, especially for someone who's going through all this trouble to have a reliable method in the first place.

The simple fact remains: if you want to have a button to press which instantly ends it, there are only two options:
1. Explosives
2. A gun/shell pointed directly at your head.

This sounds horrible. The thought of having no control when I will be killed by this machine seems really unnerving. And I think I wouldn't be able to sleep a single minute with this gun aimed at me. I'd much prefer to kill myself in a way I have control over.

I move around too much in my sleep. Even getting to sleep I move around. I'd really have to be strapped in place for it to work properly and then it would be difficult to psychologically fall asleep with a shotgun in front of me. Now maybe if I got drunk or took sleeping pills beforehand…

Reminds me of this story.

BUILDER Boyd Taylor spent three months constructing a guillotine as a suicide "machine" - then used it to kill himself as he slept.

The 36-year-old loner, who shared a cottage with his father, told him he was simply working on a woodwork project.

But behind a double door in his bedroom, he built what a coroner described as an "ingenious" construction - an 8ft high, 3ft wide frame to house a razor-sharp blade activated by a complex timing mechanism.

He took 12 sleeping pills, then lay under the guillotine knowing the medication was so strong his position in bed would not alter.

At 3.30am on January 8, the device was triggered and Boyd was decapitated. His father Robert, 60, found him later, covered in blood.

At least then you could wake up every day simply wishing you had died!

Something like this needs to be designed. The concept is that SI is mitigated by randomness, sort of like Russian Roulette. Issues like moving in your sleep and not falling asleep due to anxiety a problem but the concept needs to be developed and turned into a reality.
