Why can't people agree to my request to not wish me a happy birthday? Honestly, that would be the best gift because then I'd finally feel like I'm being heard and understood. Instead, I'm here in bed in tears contemplating finally ending my life. A once a year greeting is entirely bullshit and I'm sure the person is completely unaware of what they set in motion. A birthday card or text can be very triggering and can make a person feel even lonelier. God, I want this to finally end. I'm miserable.

At least to me there could never be anything happy about the fact that I've managed to stay here for yet another year, so your feelings are completely understandable. Unfortunately other people can often be very insensitive.

I completely relate. I have told literally everyone in my life that I don't celebrate my birthday. Before, it was because it was a reminder that I'm getting older, but now it's a reminder that I'm still here another year without accomplishing shit - and still haven't figured out how to escape...or at least haven't had the courage to do so. It has happened to me. No one ever wishes me happy birthday but when they do, I feel super uncomfortable. Like there is nothing good about existence or being alive whatsoever so what are they celebrating anyway, mostly are you fake. I just want to be out i dont see anything happy about being here years ahead

I was having a really rough couple of months last year when my birthday rolled around. I was trying to pretend it wasn't happening, but someone at work put birthday shit all over my desk. I spent most of that day dissociated, blankly staring at the decorations. It felt so surreal, to be so miserable and wanting to ctb and being swarmed with smiles and happy birthdays and "so what are you doing to celebrate????" when I didn't feel there was anything to celebrate.Similar threads
