In Portuguese, all nouns have a grammatical gender (masculine or feminine), which is mostly arbitrary.
For example, o livro (the book, masculine) and a mesa (the table, feminine).
This gender affects articles and adjectives: a mesa bonita, o livro novo.
Portuguese and Russian have grammars that are sometimes difficult even for locals.

Generally, if a noun ends in A it's feminine, and in O or E it's masculine ..I suppose

I doubt you ever look up your own language on Duolingo, but do you know what dialect they teach?

Probably a more neutral dialect or the paulistano dialect from the capital.
SP São Paulo, I suppose

The differences are minimal, generally mostly in pronunciation, but I would say it's the São Paulo dialect, since it's the country's main metropolis.

Exposure to the language in real-life situations can help, as can films, Brazilian music, and the culture in general.
But you can bring your grammar questions to us whenever you have them, and we'll be happy to help.

I find French very beautiful, and the Russian language.

Ben, pois o galego é unha lingua do norte da Península Ibérica. Antigamente, nesa rexión falábase unha lingua, o galaico-portugués, da que proveñen o galego e o portugués actuais (de feito, Portugal significa, mais ou menos, "porto de Galicia"). Co paso do tempo, e a independenza de Portugal, os idiomas separáronse e, como podedes ver, o galego ten moitas influencias do español

Is that easily understood for brazilians?

I tried a bit of Russian when younger, but never went farther than learning cyrilic (that I have mostly forgotten). I always had a regret of not learning German

How many Brazilians can speak Spanish?
well in my experience, except a few, all that learn Spanish, actually speak "portuñol" that is the mix between both languages as far as they can be understood. But that said, Portuguese speakers understand Spanish much better than we understand Portuguese (at least in Spain we are very bad at listening other languages)
