I'm British. I logged onto SaSu for the first time in a while, and actually found it pretty difficult to do so, had to use a vpn. I thought i was just stupid or something, but then I'm met with the OFCOM news on the front page of the website, and I'd just like to rant a little about it to you guys. Why the fuck is the government pouring resources into websites full of people who are hurting instead of funding the NHS? I genuinely don't fucking understand. I saw a Daily Mail article (sorry lol) where an official said "those young people didn't deserve to die". The people on sites like this are not asking to be saved. We're not helpless, we're helping ourselves and each other. By taking away resources like this, the only thing you're going to is make people attempt more irresponsibly, leading to more painful deaths, or straight up failures which will lead to even lower quality of life. If these people have a single shit about suicidal people, they'd increase funding for mental health services or maybe, and this just a suggestion, maybe fix the fucking NHS? The cost of living crisis? That'd be nice. All they're doing is actively making people's lives worse, either for political point scoring, because "dangerous suicide gang taken down" sounds nice on the news, or they're genuinely so far up their own arses that they think we're not entitled to make our own decisions about our own bodies, and would rather we suffer in life than find peace in death. Fix what's wrong, remove what's MAKING PEOPLE SUICIDAL instead of attacking the victims of a shitty mental health system. Genuinely disgusting.

"those young people didn't deserve to die".
It's funny how they see us as victims when, when we are, by the definition, the murderers.

Because it's not about prevention, it's about censorship.

They just don't want to be seen to not be doing anything.
The families of people who kill themselves often want to have somebody/something to blame rather than just accepting that their relative was suicidal.
So they go to the news and cry that the government didn't do anything to stop their relative from killing themselves.
In response the government takes the easiest way to look like they actually give a shit, such as blocking this website. They do nothing to actually address the root causes such as untreated mental illness, because all of this costs too much money.
But at least they've appeased somebody who thinks the suicide of their relative was a simple as being caused by a website.

Unfortunately the UK government among others have become completely ignorant of what its people want because they think they're invincible. It will come back to bite them though because they will be voted out in the next election.
