It's funny that if you're a hamster or a rat, assisted dying is readily available, but if you're human, society will actively fight you if you want to die.

I'm not talking primarily about suicidal people in general, but those of us who are seriously ill, should have access to the proper pharmaceuticals and care so we can go in peace.
In the future, not sure how close, if the progressive/leftist currently gaining strenght in the USA and Western Europe gain more influence and that increased influence results in a loss of importance to the conservative/ christian democrats there surely will be changes in assited dying legislation.

It's not really going to affect anything.

Anything that puts ctb methods under scrutiny is a threat. Diluted Helium being one example.

'A minister for suicide prevention has been appointed in England by the prime minister...Jackie Doyle-Price to the new role will help tackle the stigma surrounding suicide.
....her role will include making sure each local area in England has effective plans to stop unnecessary deaths'

This sounds great. Where do I apply for a cure for my medical condition(s) and a lottery win so I can try to stop my unnecessary death?

These politicians are a bunch of pansies.
These people deserve to feel excruciating pain in their lives and maybe then they will stop to see suicide as always an irrational option.
Even then i doubt it, most of the european and american political class are a bunch of rich boys who have been born in a golden craddle and even if they faced adversities they would never acept suicide as reasonable. They are too much into their religious views of how others should love their lives.

In the context of keeping us alive to be slaves, I'm not sure. I've cost the system more in consultants' time and fees, with my health problems, than I'll ever give back in taxes. If corruption exists it would've been more economical for the system to let people like me die than make me live
Bankers don't care, simple as that. They only care about money and profits. You and I and everyone are just pieces of meat, and cattle to them. And it won't change because everyone is so divided in this world, and that's the way it is designed. That's how they control us, and have power over us. And they do keep us alive at all cost to get as much money out of as possible, till our last breath. In my country, when you die they want 40-50% taxes. Even after death they want your hard earned money. Money has no real value, its just paper printed off endlessly with high interest rates, and handed out.

This relates to all countries, and not just the USA. It's the same financial principles they follow and use to enslave us all. And governments are just slaves to the financial mafia, and must do as they say. And, whoever doesn't listen to them gets killed example: JFK. This is another reason they keep all countries in debt, so the governments have no choice, and must listen and obey to the banking elites. It's a perpetual cycle of shit. Eat, work, sleep, and then die. What a great life.

I am watching UK Parliament live, Prime Minister's Questions. A question has just been asked about the PPH, and it's availability.

Prime Minister's reply, in essence, is that the Minister for Suicide Prevention is working with Amazon and others to rethink what they make available online.

Sorry, this is just a very brief and far from complete summary of what was being said, but it does seem that "something is being done" and everything is going to get more difficult.

They seriously have a Minister for Suicide Prevention in the UK?

Anyway, I suggest that anybody in the UK attempt suicide soon. That way, if you fail and become a vegetable, you'll be able to go to Belgium to get assisted suicide. Hurry up, because the Belgium option will close forever on October 31, when Brexit goes into effect and Britons will lose travel privileges to the rest of Europe.

Evil bastards want people to suffer do they

Can't have those tax dollars slipping away now can we?
Corruption exists. And if you follow the money, it always leads to it. And as long as there is good, there will always be in evil in this world. And sadly, evil always wins.

You can actually prove that evil is a universal winning strategy. I know, no fun at parties yadda yadda
I agree. Many of us can't work or we're are under-employed if we can work at all. Then many of us consume massive amounts of medical care to treat our vast array of serious physical & mental issues. Nobody is keeping me around to be a cash cow that supports society. My death clearly wouldn't cause any economic harm.

All the staff that care for you generate economic activity and jobs stats. Also, it would set a bad precedent for them to let you go as others will then follow on.

Why are those of us who cannot be anything but an expense to the system not permitted to die? I know someone else answered, but I'd like to know /your thoughts.

This is really weird. Out of all the things important for a Govt to be dealing with, this is seen as a priority? Obviously these people have not seen the pain and suffering when pallitive care does not provide the answer.I suspect most people in UK would support assisted death by one's own hand. It really is a basic individual human right now.

Yes, but what we really need right now is a minister for the prevention of Buffoon Johnson.

You make a very good point. I think it's possible though that for everyone like you, there are many others who fell through the cracks and didn't get the help they need. Look at all the homeless, many of them probably have mental health problems and are entitled to support and living allowances but can't access them and remain on the street.
