I had the idea of the thread some days ago. But I knew I will need some time to lay this topic out. I really struggled how to approach this topic and to find a good title for this thread.

My core idea was: This forum is used by researches to do studies on extremely stigmatized topics. It sounded like you can discuss anything on Sanctioned Suicide. And the fact that some social norms don't apply to this place makes SaSu unique for researchers. No fake happiness. Instead raw talk about suffering, pain, depths of despair, suicide related questions that are suppressed elsewhere. I thought though is SaSu really a place where you can discuss anything? And the clear answer is no. And this is absolutely the right decision. There are discussions, "opinions" and stances that are so toxic that they should be prohibited. I am European and I am in favor of more free speech in my country. But not in favor everything goes. Hear me out before you judge.

I will tell you an anecdote. Some weeks ago I watched a German lecture on political theory. And the lecturer discussed Michele Foucault. And the things he explained about Foucault sounded pretty weird. It was a contribution of Foucault to the topic the most stigmatized issues and the approach to them. He mentioned two examples I cannot remember the second one. But one was the approach to people with pedophiliac tendencies. And the things that Foucault said sounded sort of weird to me. It didn't sound like outright stances in favor of it. But he approached the topic as if the topic was neutral and that the discussion about this topic has to change in some way. I wasn't sure what he wanted to say with that. I tried to be agnostic because I could not really believe that an intellectual like him was in favor of that. But when I did some research about Foucault I found this wikipedia article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_petitions_against_age-of-consent_laws

And Foucault defended some really crazy shit. I could't really believe it when I read the article. My point is: if someone pretends wanting to talk about topic in an innocent way "without applying societal and normative standards" the motives can still be hideous. And bad actors can work on their agenda with it. This is why free and fair discussions about any topic is not a good idea. And this should be a common sense stance. I am not sure if all libertarians would agree with me on this though. Are there free speech absolutists who would allow such discussions on here?

Personally, I think it is good that the denial of the holocaust is prohibited in my country. On the other hand, many pro-Israel legislations seem questionable to me.
I think it is good that we can discuss stgmatized topics on here. I would also encourage discussions about topics that are related to shame and judgement. But it also depends on the context and details.

I think someone on here fantasized to be eaten after death. Not sure it was a long time ago. I am not sure whether the thread was deleted. It sounded more like a fantasy and not an invitation to someone for an arrangement. On the other hand, one could argue such threads should be deleted because they can sound like invitations. I am also sceptical as many others about the partner's thread. I think bad actors are attracted to such a thread quite easily.

There was a thread I can still remember. It was in suicide discussion. The person said they did something monstrously. Ruined someone else's life and that they always feared something like that could happen. And that they now are in real trouble. The people in the thread all agreed that this doesn't sound good. I think we on Sanctioned Suicide are in a hard place. We see the collateral damage that dysfunctional political and societal system produce but we cannot do much against the roots of the problems. We see the symptoms of a dying and extremely ill world and have to deal with it. In general I can understand when someone's guilty conscience makes someone suicidal. But who am I to judge in this instance? I prefer to stay agnostic when someone feels so guity that the person sees no other way than suicide. I think in general living through that is in most cases probably worse when having to face the consequences of a wrong decision.

Other topics I think about incest and sex with animals. Not sure if I saw such thread on here. Maybe a joke about the latter one. I had a discussion with a friend that argued sex between mature relatives should not be illegal if they use contraception. I argued against that and I think my main argument was "What if the contraception doesn't work?".

Other topics murder, murder suicide, death by cop and terrorism. It is insane that there was a promortalist terrorist posting on here. I found the last thread of the person afterwards and I am still speechless about this incident. I think I don't have to elaborate why we should not discuss such topics on here. Not all discussions should get a platform.

Personally, I am in favor of the decision that transphobic content is prohibited on here. There are so many LGBTQI members on here who face discrimination on a daily basis why should this place be toxic for them too?

Incel, femcel and looksmaxxing content. I think you can find such content on here but not as extreme and frequent compared to other place on the internet.

What do you think about this topic?
