Update: You have to wait for it to dissolve, another glass is okay.

Actually, I would have done it even more "wrong", I suppose. Jumping off a building and such.

However, I'm scared of the effects of SN.

And still the main glass didn't dissolved.

And the other two back-ups , I made one of 25g, and the other one of 20g. And dunno which one is which. Same glasses.


Does it matter if I leave it aside for some minutes more?

I would guess you'd need to put it in a lot more water and then stir. Others are saying don't do it etc. and I just wanna say taking two days off isn't a committment worth defining wether or not you do this. You can take more days off in the future etc.

Stirring didn't dissolved the main glass. I poured the SN over the water, maybe that's why this one didn't dissolved.

Water was already in the glass, and poured SN over it, did not dissolved. The other two yes, with SN first and then water over it.

NO. Only after few hours. Strong solution like ours (40%) is potent and durable . Weaker solutions will react to create nitrates (aquarium) . Labs store 40% solution in room temperature, open and close it, so some oxygen is fine. This is when 99% SN is needed . Pure 100%, required in delicate biochem tests (DNA), must be prepared freshly . But 99% is fine for us . Labs use purified water and under sterile condition.

maybe. i read someone in a thread saying to use plastic cup and spoon, so i'm not sure about it. op used a glass in which they made the sn solution so i guess it should be fine with sn.
