Watched the "curry and cyanide" documentary and I can't help but think how brilliant Jolly Joseph was to mix cyanide with curry. Be it that cyanide is obviously quite restricted, I was considering natural sources of cyanide. While bitter apricot kernels and bitter almond kernels high levels of HCN per kernel, sale is restricted where I am. So that brings me to peaches!
One peach pit kernel can contain 50–150 mg of amygdalin, which is quivalent to 2–9 mg HCN, depending on variety... this is way more than cherry pits, plum pits and apple seeds. The oral LD50 of HCN is 1–3 mg/kg. For me, that means I would only need approximately 25 kernels to reach a toxic dose (althought I would probably double just to be safe).
My idea was to use a vise or nutcracker to extract the kernel from the peach pit without damaging the kernel. Then I would puree the kernel and blend it in with some extremely flavorful and spice filled curry. The strong complex flavors of curry would dull the bitter taste, spiciness can distract the tongue, and fat content in curry would bind to and mellow out the bitter compounds.
From my understanding, it seems like cyanide death is quick at a high dose and unconsciousness is lost within 1 to 5 minutes of oral consumption. Survivors of cyanide suicide attempts and poisonings say it can be physically and psychologically painful so I was thinking of maxing out on my xanax prescription. I figured the next time I refill my 2mg thirty day supply of pills, that should be suffice to eliminate the temporary discomfort before unconsciousness.
Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?
