One of my friends is now posting lyrics where it is obvious he is considering CTB. Other friends are completely withdrawing into their own shells. It isn't just me anymore. Another friend has got purposely into F so he can feel good for a while, then just end it. He has a good job and girlfriend, and she is doing the same thing, both don't give a damn. My uncle is drinking heavily all of a sudden and mentions CTB here and there. He says people don't really give a shit and everything is a game and ignore his suffering and the struggle he is going through at an older age - everyone in it for themselves.

Something is really wrong. This is no longer a fraction of society issue.

Other "e famous" people posting topics we say on here, where it is also obvious they are on the verge of CTB.

Really, it's not mental illness. The truth is society let the disease spread to where we are being devastated so bad we don't want to wake up every day. You can design reality to such a way where you just beg people to live for the sake of it while every day is just torture is utterly ridiculous. Those against people taking things into their own hands and going early should shut their mouths beyond just empty ass words if they really want to prevent this. Everything is developing where living this hell, the fire is getting hotter, and less people will tolerate it. Especially anyone with a brain.

I honestly think if people could be straight and public about this topic without being sectioned it would get very real very quick that a very large number of people are extremely dissatisfied with the way this place has changed.

Just sit down and do nothing and watch everything and people you love rot quickly and pretend this is all okay. Put cute messages near bridges and skyscrapers. Ok. What are you doing? You've done nothing to address the root of all of this. Everything is a choice, right? When all have just shown nothing but talk and empty words, eventually those with a brain simply lose hope.

I see clues on other people in public, behind the half assed smile. They are just putting in their last 2 cents.

It's rational. You wouldn't expect people who have a life sentence in a torture camp to be enthusiastic about waking up every day.

The only picture I'm getting when I imagine all this is people going into their own shell without displaying any emotion, waiting for the end.

CTB is going semi-mainstream. This society is a total failure for humanity, and no one cares to accept it or do shit about it. It's always the common man who takes the hit, despite putting him in muddier and muddier waters. Everything is our fault, even if we were set up and couldn't control circumstance.

Those in charge just double down and don't give a damn.

Mass mainstream CTB is the future of this place. It's time to stoppretending, but we live in a world of pretenders, so I don't have hope for that anytime soon. The majority still want to act like everything is fine when this shit is crumbling in front of them, with their false hope.

False hope is the cancer that destroyed this place, and many others. Pretending a bad situation that is long-term is okay is a toxic, co-dependent behavior. Unfortunately it seems most have subscribed to this garbage, letting many others, and even themselves, suffer.

The thing is this is both a good and bad thing, good thing for the increasing amount of people who genuinely feel like life isn't worth living and realizing it. the bad thing is people who kinda (bit not entirely sure if they want) want to CTB will be forced to think and decide fast on their plans before those stupid authorities start implementing countermeasures against CTB-ing which affects both people who decide to live and decide to die, here's how

Those who decide to live bit later realize they actually want to CTB would be trapped by society and locked in this life cage to stay alive by the increasingly anti-suicide governments when methods (at least the painless and/or insta-kill ones)become harder to access

While some (not all) of the people who commit suicide but regrets it at the last second would lose out on the life that they think is still worth living because they aren't given time to think it through first cuz of the CTB door closing by the government.

This is such a stupid counter-measure. It's like "okay we are going to make your life hell, not address the root of the problem, but try to force you to keep living." This is impossible. Someone who really wants to go will find a way out if they are that desperate. The root of the problem is they have designed a shithole that is getting worse and is not serving the instinctual needs of humanity.

What kind of place is this where so many people of different backgrounds and families are starting to resort to this? It's beyond abnormal.

Many deep down know what I'm saying is true but refuse to admit it.

The wish is that you have something to look forward to every day. When you make it that people would simply rather rest and have nothing to look forward to because society is going the direction of being more meaningless and hellish, you get this shit. I don't feel alone anymore, and feel a comfort of justification with all of these thoughts.

It's not abnormal when you live in a trashcan and nothing gets better. Money and success don't do anything.

The healthcare and government system in a nutshell:

"Ok if you don't have money we will treat you just enough that you'll barely stay alive for longer but not actually improving your quality of life"

"Ok if you don't have money we will treat you just enough that you'll barely stay alive for longer but not actually improving your quality of life"
That's the mentality I'm talking about.

People are motivated when they have something to look forward to.

Life is just getting more unpleasant and complicated for the majority, and it's inevitable they reach the point where they start wondering if this is worth it anymore. Everyone has a breaking point. And it seems more are hitting that point.

I just interacted with an older man. He just said all he wants to do is spend his retirement on as many vacations as possible and drink himself to death and get stoned. He has nothing to look forward to anymore. Is this why people are recklessly spending? This is an older white guy who lived a conservative life. I talked to him for a good hour. His give a shit meter is in the toilet. He was just getting drunk all day in the bar and hitting on as many women as he could and didn't care what he said. His wife didn't care at all, she said she's dysfunctional and just wants to play games, watch TV, and gamble. He's just going all out before his grave.

You work more to earn less, there's always some new law, regulation, or development that gets in your way, always some outside force the enters your life without your control, you just contemplate... okay... this sucks. What is the point of this? How is this exciting in any way? There's always a new personal problem that comes around eventually. Then you weigh that onto all the BS this society throws at you, that is the breaking point.

Then you feel only satisfaction in your deep stage 4 sleep.

And then you wish it was like that constantly.

That's when... yeah. I think we are on our way out of this failed experiment.

This is just a big prison.

there's definitely something going on spiritually in the world where nobody really cares about life anymore. people will pay lip service to ideals held by their parents and grandparents about the sanctity of life and the necessity of preserving our way of life, but the people who actually believe that are getting rarer by the day. people are denied a place in the world and deprived of anything they could do to find meaning, so it makes sense that they are getting number. the number they get, the more attractive suicide becomes.

not to get too "tin foil hat" on you guys, but it kinda makes sense why politicians wouldn't want to address this. hopeless folk are a lot less likely to seek a change. ignoring the problem, then, means you're less likely to get voted out. but you have to keep those hopeless people alive because there's not much point in ruling over corpses, hence the anti-suicide measures.

be that as it may (not), we can all agree that we live in a profoundly sick world.

I used to seek a lot of changes, but I've given up any hope, and I gave it many chances. This place just gets worse. Nothing happens, nothing changes. I'm tired, very tired of this place.

ive also noticed the uptick of hopeless and suicidal people, especially those struggling financially. regarding your comment on anti suicide measures, i honestly believe theyd outlaw suicide or eliminate any easy way and legalise assisted suicide but they calculate it based off cost and if you are able to work in any way theyd just say nope. maybe i should go and whistleblow a corporation to ctb! in all seriousness why the fuck do we live in a world where people are asassinated for calling out faulty planes and practices, i hope the victims are at peace bc wtf?!

It's amazing how it doesn't even matter anymore if you go to mainstream people or alternative media people, everyone has their own brand of doom and hopelessness, whether you are a mainstream-science-guy believing climate change will kill us, or an alternative guy thinking we are at the brink of collapse of the system, going into totalitarian nwo, while everyone in between gets their doom from impending financial collapse, impending world war etc., the corona-madness still festering in the subconsciousness of everyone, adding to the usual despairs of life. It's a great leveling of utter destain for the future and I'm down here waving at everybody, greeting them for coming down on my level.

Suicide and ctb will never be mainstream. It will always be taboo even if euthanasia was legalised for everybody. Many people simply love life and existence too much. I don't understand how they love existence so much but I know that they do

Yep recently read in the UK on the ONS website 2023 suicides were 5.5% higher than in 2022. Heard (abeit no evidence) that this is the case in the U.S to???

I wonder if suicides are increasing as much in under developed nations, say in Africa, where the internet & smartphones are less common?

I have yet to find a data showing the increase in suicide rate of Africa as a continent but it is indicated that the average rate of suicide is higher than that of the global average suicide rate. I can only assume an increase in number than the decrease of suicides over the years.

"The African region is home to six of the 10 countries with the highest suicide rates worldwide. The common means of suicide in the region are hanging and pesticide self-poisoning and to a lesser extent drowning, use of a firearm, jumping from a height or medication overdose. Studies show that in Africa for each completed suicide, there are an estimated 20 attempted ones."

This thread pretty much sums it up. It could be that the further down the doom mindset we go the more we notice it in others as well though.

There are a lot of people that feel passionate out there, thinking they can make the world good or that some political system can make the world a great place. Usually young people. Look at the current college protests. Granted, almost none of those kids know anything about anything in these regions, know the languages, etc, their only knowledge of history is as limited and skewed as the rest of us with poor quality information no mater the source, and would just join in their fellows no matter what the cause is.

The point is, they are part of something and feeling passion and like they can fix the world. I definitely lost that spirit a long time ago but there are people out there the opposite of the spirit described in this thread. Their discontent and activism is part of the overall stew of chaos but they are far from resigning all like the old drunkard described (which is shockingly similar to my own point in life). Of course the world could be a better place. But ultimately, and especially with so many billions of us crammed in here, I don't think it's in our current nature to have a solid system that works well for most. Frankly, it's shocking that things continue to semi-function for so long. It's Leibniz's best possible world I guess.

The cause that needs the most impassioned activism from my own selfish perspective is right-to-die. Is there any realistic scenario where activism can get us official euthanasia is offered as a basic right and service?
With genetic engineering and much more advanced technologies in the pipeline, the well-to-do can create nearly perfect kids for themselves and an ideal cattle class. For fuck's sake mercy for those of us living in this hellish transition time.
