I relate 100%!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's usually always 'muh winter depression!!'

I have summer depression for two reasons:

1. My sleep habits are bad. I go to bed 2-3am, which works fine in winter but not in summer. That's because I live in a high up latitude where in summer it gets light at 3am and dark at 11pm. And the birds start singing at 2am. So by the time I close my eyes to try to sleep, I hear and see first signs of daytime, so my mind freaks out trying to hurry to sleep. Sleep anxiety or anxious insomnia basically. Also, it's so bright that window covers don't keep out all light, so if I fall asleep I wake up a lot.

2. When the weather is sunny I am reminded of happy times in my childhood and part of adult life with what I thought was the love of my life. Crippling nostalgia, basically (which was a serious medical condition when first described and should be classified as such again, maybe as a subcategory of depression rather than just an internet meme). So memories just pop into my mind and I cry about what once was and is lost forever, basically almost like torture where someone pokes me in the head hundreds of times a day (which I would actually prefer over mental pain).

The months for the highest suicide rate ( in the Northern hemisphere ) are April, May and June.
These rates are higher than the rates in winter - typically 2 to 3 times higher.
Chris Cornell of Soundgarden wrote the song " Black hole sun " about the phenpmenon of the suicide rate rise during Spring.
He C.T.B in May 2017.

I understand you, they're my two least favorite seasons. And the heat is something else to deal with. People everywhere, noise.. It's like more things are taking away the little energy you have.

It's already autumn here, I spent my summer break locked up at home.

Always depressed in early spring, as I am right now. It's related to this feeling of the world coming alive, everything is so beautiful and fresh and I feel stagnant and ugly. I also feel this incredible sense of loneliness whenever spring hits, my body always start to crave other people.

Yeah, suicides of bipolar people increase greatly in spring, maybe its because of when they are in the manic phase ?
Another reason why ctb rates are higher in Spring according to studies is that when the weather begins to start brightening up, it amplifies loneliness and hopelesness.
So I guess its like you see more people outside with friends and partners living a so - called normal happy life than in Winter, therefore making you feel even more pissed -off than usual.

Thank god I'm not the only one, summer is torture because heat and sunny days make me super irritable and the longer days make it seem like my boredom and emptiness is never going to end plus I feel like I'm expected to be out having fun and because the past memories of how fun summers were during childhood and how bleak my life is now in comparison

same here. luckily once real summer hits it's only very peopley once it cools off here. but since I moved to where I am now I get the sads in summer vs winter since things tend to not freeze here.

I agree. Increased sense of guilt if inside as feel I should be out and about with everyone. Theres something like a sense of achievement for being out and about in autumn/winter when others aren't (and no loss for staying in)
Also struggle with heat - much prefer the refreshing sensations of cold. And can do something about it (put layers on), but heat all you can do is sit there sweating.

It is depressing, the birds chirping and the sun shining, people running and being healthy and me… still dead inside 🫠

Nice weather reminds me of all the things I used to do in the summer: festivals, vacations, friend meet-ups at breweries. I'm stuck at home now.

I'm almost pathologically cold natured. This winter was one of the roughest for me. But my anxiety spikes in the spring when I should feel better. No mercy for the cursed I suppose.

I related so much to this i have constant childhood memory flashbacks when i was free from depression and CTB thoughts during this time and my sleep pattern is fucked up to oblivion i live like vampire without a sleep using energy drinks to keep mr going during the day

I am way more depressed than usual in the Summer, mainly because I live in [REDACTED], Texas where it's 100°F+ every single fucking day and I have hyperhidrosis and fine hair and am quite pale so every time I go outside for more than a few minutes I get my hair and clothes soaking wet with sweat, plus I get a sunburn, plus 100°F+ weather is just plain awful for everyone even if you're not like me. Mmmm. Can't wait. It has already started, practically.

I hate late fall and winter, I feel more depressed at this time. It's cold, white snow that says death, mud, cloudy weather. I just want to die when I look out the window. It's really hard for me to wake up in winter and go to work. Summer is my favorite time, it's sunny, life is blooming. Yes, I still get depressed, but I like dying in spring and summer. Hell, I can go to the lake, sit on the beach and die thinking about good things. I'd gladly trade with someone who likes the cold.
