They asked me why I wanted to CTB, I told them why, they realized that my situation is actually fucked up and there is no easy solution to it so they tried to use the weakest possible logic

When I think of "murder", it is when someone ends another's life without their consent. If there is consent, then it's euthanasia. In suicide you clearly have the killed person's consent (yourself), so it's not murder. Instead, it's just self-euthanasia.

It's not murder; it's to kill oneself. In Dutch words like suïcide and zelfmoord (self-murder) are still being used, but for a long time they (particularly the media) have been using another word: zelfdoding which roughly translates to self-killing.

Our van Dale dictionary explains moord (murder) as het opzettelijk en met voorbedachten rade een ander van het leven beroven; the deliberate and premeditated taking of the life of another. So it's not murder; you're not killing another person.

I am sorry you had this hurtful interaction. I have long held the idea that people who are vehemently opposed to "self-killing" are most likely afraid of their own thoughts of self harm. To them, accepting someone else's choice to unalive opens the Pandora's Box in their own head, so they must protect, protect, protect. Using the M-word is almost like a slur, intended to slam the door on unpleasant thought.

Unfortunately, in many countries suicide is considered to be a "murder of your own self", yet you can't be punished because, well, you aren't alive anymore.
Of course I consider this to be wrong. Simply a person should have the right to die as much as they have the right to live.
