Someone CTBd yesterday in my area and they are being ridiculed online.

Yesterday, a refuge CTBd near my area, it was posted on Facebook and there are tens of comments saying that his death was great, more immigrants should do the same, and that his life is not worth anything at all. A joke.

I am an international student. I am going to CTB in 3 weeks. I will also, be nothing but a joke.

Agree with the others who replied here, the internet is full of weirdos hiding behind a keyboard who would never say that stuff to people's faces irl. As a grandchild of immigrants myself, I try to avoid most comment sections and toxic spaces online for my own wellbeing. People are disgusting online but will accept help from immigrants when they need it in an emergency. They're stupid and ignorant, I pity them! Sending virtual hugs

This is one of my fears for when I CTB. Not that it would ultimately matter, because I'll be dead, but it's still so brutal.

I imagine most people would be happy to see me dead, some would even celebrate and dance on my grave, I'm sure of it. I would be missed by almost no-one, and life will just go on as if I never existed.

A LOT of facebook is made up of bots now, some of those comments might not be real. I don't mean to downplay racism or human cruelty here, obviously.

I know at least some of the people doing are just trying to farm the Internet for engagement and money. They use bots to comment and create engagement, then put affiliate links in their bios and/original posts in the hopes that people will buy whatever they're pushing. In many cases they also hope to drive enough engagement to be paid directly by the platform.

In other cases people use bots to spread certain ideologies. The reason behind that is...less clear.

Bots have been used by governments (Russia, for example) to sew confusion around facts. To make people too tired to engage with the world and to create complacency.

As for the how, I'm not a super technically minded person so I don't know the details on exactly what software and hardware is being used. But I do have a video showing what a bot farm looks like that you might find interesting/ informative:

People have always been really cruel about people who commit suicide. Unless it's a hot woman or Kurt Cobain. Then it's a tragedy and they had so much to give to the world and bla bla bla.

Don't waste your time thinking about that. Assholes are gonna humiliate and deface the image of anyone for just a taste of superiority. The boot only feels right to them in someone else's face, especially when they can be bigoted about it too
