Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

So last year. I took a knife to go camping and get away from the house and the police caught me. My court date is within the next week.
I'm in the UK. I gave the officer the knife straight away and didn't threaten anybody. Should I be concerned about jail? If I go there I can piss people off until I get killed right?
As long as you weren't camping in London, lol the trouble they can give you 5 years for possession but that's in extreme cases depending on the size of the knife, and you haven't got no previous convictions for carrying a knife and hopefully your not gang affiliated so it's likely to be a fine or community service tell your brief to add fishing to the camping story and you might walk out of there a free man.

Sometimes, it's embarrassing being a British citizen with this bullshit constantly happening. I really don't want to say that the loicense meme is true, but it sort of is.
Legal personal carry in the UK is a folding bladed knife with a less then 3 inch blade. Something like a Swiss Army knife of other pocket knife. Anything with a fixed or locking blade and/or over three inches in length is illegal to carry in public unless you can reasonably argue why you have it. For example, if you are a chef and have a set of professional knives in the boot of your car.
It's at the discretion of the arresting officer as to whether your explanation is valid and the discretion of the court as to what will be done with the charge. Personally, I always found a pocket knife to be not enough for a proper camping trip - I always wanted to carry my lock knife or belt knife but never did because I wouldn't risk it with the police. But I'd take my lock knife on excavations because it was a really useful tool and as such I could reasonably argue that it was needed for my job. But, if I left site and went to the shops, I'd ditch the knife.
Depending on any aggravating or mitigating factors, and assuming you have been charged under the Possession of an article with blade/point in a public place
Criminal Justice Act 1988 (section 139(1)) sentencing ranges from a low level community order to a summary maximum of 6 months and or £5,000.00 fine, with a maximum of 4 years' imprisonment or fine or both on indictment
I don't see any judge in a first world country giving jail time to someone who brought a knife to go camping... unless it was some sort of knife that's obviously used for fighting (spring loaded stiletto knife or something similar)
Unlikely as first offence (driving offences dont count) and because you wasn't endangering anyone but you should listen to your lawyer. Sentencing depends if its magistrates or crown. Magistrates sends more people to prison but has a limitation on the time it can give you. There is also suspended sentence which you should be able to get for a first time offence but that depends on how long they give you. Remember that you get a third off your sentence for admitting you are guilty at the first available opportunity (which it seems you did) and you will only actually serve half of any sentence after that anyway so it could be very very limited even if the court are that severe. I think you will probably be ok. I am UK by the way.

you cannot have a knife? sounds like an elementary school. kids in the us have pocket knifes. it seems to me the more we make a big deal of something.....the more of a problem it becomes
A lot of the UK is about the numbers ... prosecute anyone where you can get a conviction but dont do the work to catch a criminal if its going to take too much time. The 'best' police force is the one with the highest conviction rate no matter what that conviction is. 100 vandalism convictions counts better than 1 rape conviction if there is serious work involved. Its a bloody joke!
WHAT THE HELL?! Possession of a blade?! We all have blades in our houses this is insane!!! Of course you took a knife with you when going camping just Incase you'll need to cut some rope or cut in two some branches for the fire or whatever. Knife is an ordinary camping equipment, WTF IS THIS?! I am so confused by this, and they are even making you go to court over this?! This is literally insane!

UK is a good place in my opinion. The food flavour isn't as good but the cops don't have guns and you can fall asleep in a park in London without being robbed

Our food is awesome here in Canada and sleeping in a park would be no problem in most of Canada. Our cops and citizens have guns here but we don't have the fear of going to prison for having a pocket knife or a screw driver.

Not only that but I've seen homeless people happily sleeping in a cot (at winter-time) with some tea, sandwiches and blankets. Cops are very understanding in my area at least w/ regards to mental health
UK is a shitpit, massive wealth inequality & nanny state that doesn't tackle real problems for fear of hurt feelings. Fucking hate being autistic in this country.
