Is there any way to test if the SN you have is not mixed with regular salt or something & purity, if its 99% or lower to the extent that it requires more in quantity or just won't work?

I think i've found a reasonably cheap way of testing, i'm sure it isn't 100% reliable but it will at least tell you if the substance you received is active. Anyone interested let me know....

People in the SN megathread put a few drops of blood in a little of the powder (or vice versa); if the blood turns brown it means the SN is doing its thing. That's not really what you're asking, @WolfgangA, but maybe it's something.

One way to test it is to mix it with hydrochloric acid(HCL).
One of the resultant products of the mixture is nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which is a gas with peculiar reddish-brown color.
If you do the mixing and get NO2, then there's a high likelihood that you've got the real thing.
