This came up during my research and I am not sure about it: Another question has come up, if you don't mind: can Tagamet be substituted with Ranitine, and, if so, is the dose the same? Can anyone help me with this, please?
It is substituted fairly often on here, the wiki says 225mg but some people are taking 300mg. I think I have read somewhere that taking too much can cause you to stay awake for longer.
The website of the main brand for it says it takes 30-60 minutes to kick in, I've seen taking it 50 minutes prior to SN recommended around here. I also suspect that being an antacid it could lower the absorption of other drugs, so I plan on taking my final dose of antiemetic 10 minutes before the ranitidine (1 hour before SN).

acid reducer accelerates the absorption that is crucial for SN. ranitidine differs from cimetidine in that it has prokinetic properties, is 7 times more potent, slower to act and does not affect cytochrome that metabolizes drugs so much. recommended daily dose is 300mg, which was also recommended before SN. ranitidine in combination with meto reduces vomiting and increases cumulative of meto. both have prokinetic properties so that ranitidine can be taken before meto because peak concentrations are reached after one to three hours. all this with diazepam should reduce vomiting to a minimum. Of course, this cannot be avoided if vomiting occurs immediately for, I don't know, disgust.
