Method SN dissolved in liquid - okay to drink later?

So, I was attempting to CTB today but got interrupted, long story. I made my two SN drinks by dissolving 25g in 50g of water for each.

Obviously I'm here, so I didn't get the chance to drink them. Are they still okay to drink 4+ hours after prep? What about 12+ hours?

This is the last of my SN, and would really like to CTB ASAP. I've ordered more from DMC as a backup, but even with express shipping I assume that will take several weeks. Thanks!
Just an added note that I've been storing the prepped liquids under a bowl to keep them cool and dark - but they are not fully sealed.

I think you should be fine. Afaik NaNO2 does react with O2 not with H2O, Water contains some O2 and exposure to air also causes a reaction but this reaction is slow. So it should be potent even after a couple of days.

Since im not a chemist i could be wrong about that tho, and if you feel uncomfortable with it you should wait for your backup. I dont know your situation. However i wish you the best with whatever you do and may you find what you are looking for.

I believe I saw someone on here saying that you want to drink it within 15 minutes of preparing it as it rapidly starts to breakdown. I can't vouch for anything regarding this on the merits of my own Knowledge however. This is something that's quite difficult to research As you can't really ask a chemist How quickly it loses its potency for catching the bus.

Generally when you add chemicals Capable of changing ph levels in water they're labeled as acid, base, or neutral when dissolved in water. NaNO2 Is labeled as a base. It's reacting and losing potency in the water.

Exactly how much potency it's losing for every minute I really don't know. Perhaps someone on the website that understands changing toxicity levels after It's been added to water can chime in. Safe bet would be to probably Toss that dosage and wait for some Your backup.

Your primary issue is exposure to air, and thereby, oxygen. This isn't a problem for a couple days, but I wouldn't store it like that for more than a week or two since it isn't sealed. The bowl method probably works well though (similar to a watch glass over a beaker). If it were airtight, it would be good for many years.

Assuming you used distilled water or even tap water, it should be very stable in solution.

4-12 hours should be no problem at all.

Thank you all for your help! I wrapped the glasses I'm using with saran wrap for extra protection last night. Still under the bowl. Sounds like it'll remain pretty stable.

As my mental health has deteriorated it's been harder and harder for me to keep up with some of the complexities and chemistry of my plan - and I was a bit slow at it to begin with!

Thank you all for your help! I wrapped the glasses I'm using with saran wrap for extra protection last night. Still under the bowl. Sounds like it'll remain pretty stable.

As my mental health has deteriorated it's been harder and harder for me to keep up with some of the complexities and chemistry of my plan - and I was a bit slow at it to begin with!

You can transfer all of it in to a small bottle, small enough for as little air at the top as possible. The above research result showed the SN in a bottle of tap water with a cap on was fine after almost 1 year. It will save you the urgency of having to drink it right away if you don't feel ready.
