Hi all, first time posting here, I lurked for a while but never signed up.

I purchased SN from DMC a couple of months ago but I'm panicking that it's not the right one. I was wondering if somebody would be able to confirm based on my hints? It'd be much appreciated as I'm under a lot of stress so I don't know if it's not the right one or if my brain is just too fried!

I ordered from the website vegans wouldn't like, and paid "a friend in Ukraine" (first name initial is "L"). Packaging says BASF on it. It doesn't look as flaky as others have said but it's slightly yellowish if I shine a light on it.

I tried WhatsApping the store but was told to "stop experimenting with the product" when I tried to hint at what I'm using it for, which has me worried because other people have said the person was very helpful over WhatsApp and that the person knows what it's being used for?

If anybody could provide any reassurance I'd be so relieved as I'm feeling overwhelmed and don't want to take it if it's not the right thing.

Thanks so much if anybody can help.

From the hints you provided, it sounds like the right DMC, unfortunately nobody can confirm the right DMC with you until you unlock PMs. And in order to unlock PMs you need a certain amount of posts and consistency. Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you, I'm mostly just worried because people said the person was helpful on WhatsApp and he knows what it's used for, but his messages to me are telling me things like

"I still can't quite understand why you purchased this ingredient if you have no intention of using it for its intended purpose. Well, let's leave that aside for now. Since you've already bought this preservative, do promise that you'll put it to its proper use. And if you have no such plans, then do dispose of it by any means necessary."

Is that him confirming it? (Even though he's obvs saying the opposite)

Everyone else said he was helpful but he's telling me the opposite and I'm kinda freaking out.

DMC won't privately or publicly confirm/suggest SN should be used for CTB purposes, he's already been under scrutiny from the BBC, so to safeguard himself from legal harm, he gives responses that strongly suggests you should use it for meat/curing purposes and no other reasons. I may be mistaken, hopefully others can weigh in their thoughts to clarify this matter.

Okay that makes sense, I was also freaking out because on the outer packet it said "Standardisation norm 1g SN and 250g Kitchen Salt" so I thought that meant I'd got the wrong thing but he confirmed (sort of) that it's 100g SN.

I have such bad anxiety and nausea and can't think straight anymore, so I'm just terrified I've got the wrong thing despite being pretty sure I got it from the right place lol.

If anybody else has any experience whatsapping him hopefully they can confirm too!
