A few years back I had a friend commit suicide because of sextortion. (Sextortion: employs non-physical forms of coercion to extort sexual favors from the victim.) He was a very kind person who didn't know about this site nor was he suicidal before this incident. Before he died he had drained his bank account, but they kept asking for more money. After 4 hours of the first payment he had already taken his life. I still think about him often, he used to mow the lawn for my grandparents and shovel their driveway, he volunteered at the homeless shelter and played sports. I don't know why I am posting this, I was just thinking about him. I know this isn't really a thing to post here but I don't know.. He was 16 I just hope he is resting in peace. <3
Most victims of sextortion are young men/ boys. Multiple cases of this end in suicide and often times because the perpetrators are in a different country there is little police can do. Just be careful what you send on the internet or if you have children make sure they are safe.
