Discussion Sentimental Items as you CTB?

Heya everyone! I had another discussion type question and I wanted to see what people's thoughts were n stuff!!

Do you plan to have an items with you when you ctb? This could be anything that's special or significant to you. Would you potentially want to get buried with said items afterwards, have them given away, or something else?

For me I'm in the works of getting myself a big seal plush that I'd have with me if I ever decide to actually catch my bus. I'd also have a small harp seal plush that's really special to me and a Meowth plush that my gf and I got on our first date. Maybe some altar stuff nearby depending on what I end up having as my method. I'm not sure if I'd want to get buried with these tho, maybe have them on my grave if I get buried but I'd worry someone would take them. I'd probably be better have having these items given to my gf and/or my family.

I anthropomorphize my plushies a little too much to let them be near me when I commit. I would feel so guilty :(

I don't have a lot of sentimental items that I think would be easy to incorporate. Maybe a bracelet that my wife made me, though I worry it could get damaged during the process

That's very fair! I think that's why I really want to have a method that's more like falling asleep n stuff. That way it'd be just like I'm cuddling with them to go to bed one last time y'know? I'd like to think that they'd understand and maybe they can find comfort and happiness with my gf or family
That being said I think a bracelet would be v nice to have in your last moments, and hopefully you could find a way to incorporate it without it getting damaged!

I think that'd be really sweet if your friend's baby got them, it'd give your plushies a whole other chance to be loved all over again

one 64 gb usb drive that i will wear as a locket, i have stored my music collection, some images that i have collected over a period of time, passwords stuff, letters, miscellaneous programs and stuff and a bunch of notes for myself and others. all encrypted in aes-128 using SanDisk PrivateAccess vault .

Yeah, I definitely want to bring a plushie with me. My plan is SN in a hotel room, so I would really like to have something familiar and comforting there with me in the final minutes.

There are pictures of my deceased family members on my wall. Chances are, I'll be looking at them when I go. I also thought about hugging some hot water bottles. I think that might feel reassuring. I want to organise a direct cremation before I go and my solicitor will arrange for a house clearance company to remove and sell all my crap.

I kind of have the opposite feeling towards leaving stuff behind. I have this weird sense of satisfaction at the thought of it all just being erased by total strangers.

I lost so many close family members early on in my life. I inherited bits and bobs to remember them by but decades on without them, there's just this realisation that it's just 'stuff'. It doesn't bring them back. It doesn't really comfort me. I'm the end of the line pretty much in my family now too. I'm not really close enough to anyone to feel they'd even want my stuff. I suppose because I wish I had never existed, it fits that I won't really for that long afterwards in terms of what's left.

The exception to that will be the work I did. (Creative job.) But even there, it's not like I'm famous. A handful of people I worked for might remember me for a little bit until they employ someone better.

i also would want to have a pokemon plush with me! my bf bought me a piplup plush (my favorite pokemon) and also a teddy demon plush (from maoujou de oyasumi) for my birthday. they're my favorites, but i have many others, so might also include some of those. other than that, i'm not sure, other than wearing clothes i love?
i think i just want someone to hug as i go, but since i can't, a plushie is the closest thing... but even if i had a person with me, i'd still want my plushies. but this is under the assumption i ctb in my room anyway, which would have me surrounded by things that bring me small comforts anyway.

I'm sorry about that, I can't imagine how shitty things have to be for you in order to not have anything like that. On the other side, if you're not a sentimental person to begin with I think that's also okay. At the end of the day having something like that in your final moments isn't necessary

That's actually really smart and cool! I would've never thought to have a usb drive with all of my important info. Very easy to carry also in whatever way you'd want to ctb I imagine!

I think having a stuffed friend with you as you pass is a beautiful thing. What happens after you ctb can be scary and being in an unfamiliar environment and be even more unnerving. Having a friend with you to comfort is something that warms my heart and moves me

I can definitely understand that perspective, even if it's not my way of thinking about it. There is something almost moving about having everything about you be gone once you're gone, it's the closest thing people can get to never existing I think.

And I actually made art for the longest time that I have out online(don't want to link it or anything for privacy) and I think it'd be similar to that, or like maybe every once in a while my art would still cross someone's Twitter feed and they wouldn't even know who I was or that I was gone or anything. It's almost a little scary

Aw piplup so cute!! And I looked up that teddy bear and it's so cute!! I didn't even think about potentially having important clothes on. I don't think I have anything in that vein, I'd just be comfy.

And I definitely feel that, it's why I wanted the seal plush I have to be really big (and the one I found online is almost 4 ft i believe!).

And that's very nice! I know a lot of people don't ctb in their rooms for one reason or another but I bet it'd be nice to do it in a familiar place surrounded with what you know and love

I plan on wearing a shirt my younger brother gave me, it'll be like he's holding me one last time. Beyond that, I'm gonna bring my favorite plushie and some stuffed animals from my childhood. I haven't thought much beyond that, but I don't wanna take too much with me to the hotel. I'm scared it'll be harder for my loved ones to get them back and I'd want them to have the sentimental things

That's definitely a struggle! I love all my plushies but as much as I hate to admit it I do have my favorites and those that I have a bigger attachment to than others. Regardless though, I'd like to think that all of my plushies can go out to my family or my gf, although it is a lot so some of them could also be donated to be loved again

It's so amazing how even a shirt can have so much significance for someone, I think that's beautiful, especially when you look at it like that

I hadn't even thought of that! The fact that it might be difficult to get some of your items back to your family members :(
I'd like to think they would give your items back because they'd want them but I don't know how the process works and maybe they'd get fucked with somehow when you're found? Especially if you're in a place that isn't your house :(

I feel like bringing any mementos to your deathplace would just be self-sabotage, because, being tokens of the positive aspects of your life, they may convince you to back out at the last minute. I'm only going to bring the necessary tools for my method when I go out into the wilderness to CTB—no phone, no water, or anything that would make it less inconvenient to trek out of there. I want to be able to waive my SI on the first and last attempt.

I thought about tying amelie the strawberry milk squishmallow to me when I die so I don't drop it. She's the one that I feel has always been the closest to me when I was struggling and I would hate to leave her behind like I've forgot about her. I also plan to keep my caroleena the carrot squishmallow close to me since I've used her to help me sleep the past few months. Although what I think I'll actually end up doing is dropping my giant squishmallow collection on the floor to be with me when I die since they're all so important to me. I don't have any friends or any people in general that I feel comfortable around, so I used to buy a bunch of squishmallows and put like 10 or something on my bed at a time to help me feel less lonely.

That's fair! I actually hadn't thought of that but I can definitely see this point. I guess for me though it'd be more for comfort than anything else. Having her right next to you as you go sounds really comforting, I definitely understand having one plush that's way close to you

And if you end up dropping them to be in the floor with you I think that's awesome too, squishmellows are way comfy and would definitely being more comfortable than the floor alone!

And I'm in the same boat there. I never really had a lot of friends and my plushies were my friends that were always there instead

My Meowth plush is something we got together at build a bear on our first date so I definitely consider that a gift from her, I think it'd be so nice to have a plush form your partner with you as you go
