@Rocinante, I can remember being like 5-7 years old, falling asleep crying to Tears in Heaven playing on my little radio. Bittersweet memories right there.

Death Cab and A Perfect Circle got me through some tough times in my teens & 20s (still like them in the present too.)

This song here, Casimir Pulaski Day (and many of Sufjan Stevens' other songs) always makes me cry. Maybe because I lost my amazing step-dad to cancer when I was 15?

jordan dreyer, the vocalist, has the PERFECT voice for sad songs. this song has great lines such as "how senseless death, how precious life" and the last few lyrics of the song. i won't spoil it because the song tells a whole tragic story with two point of views".

this whole album makes me feel the feels, it's an anti-war album. this is a masterpiece with beautiful instrumentals and vocals.

such great picks! i hate myself is so good. funeral diner has some super downbeat stuff as well, along the same lines.
