In my experience, "borrowed time" can last a lot longer than you would think. I hope you can find a way out, in whatever way that means to you. It sucks to live in the limbo state.
I also run on borrowed time. I have no reason or will to keep living once my parents are gone. Both are ~80 and i don't know for how long they will be around. I have no one else to live for.
