Questions about hanging?

I still haven't completely decided on a method, but if I chose hanging, I've got afew questions.

Although I struggle, especially because of disabilities to prepare it or any method, I'm inching closer.

1. How many mm show the diameter be?
2. What should the length be of the rope? If its longer than that, do I need to cut it smaller.
3. What material would be best, I've got a picture of 10 available materials?

I would try to figure out the right length before buying. If you cut it shorter yourself you'd probably weaken the rope.
