Questions about buying CO gas tanks?

I understand that one can purchase CO gas from some gas suppliers.
Has anyone here attempted to do that?
Is there a specific concentration that will be more effective?
How much of a quantity of gas is needed to fill a 100 cubic ft tent or car?
Or should I just stick with the charcoal method?
