Hey guys,

I just managed to get a Propranolol prescription from my GP after mentioning Panic attacks and I see that's a beta blocker? I've seen a couple times through searching that it isn't recommended in the sn method anymore, but I haven't seen any reasons why. Is it just unproven, so not really necessary? Or does it actually reduce your chances of success?

And furthermore, I haven't been able to acquire any sedatives, this prescription was supposed to be for benzos, but I haven't managed. Can propranolol work as a sedative by any chance? I see it's good for anxiety and slowing heart rate, and I asked and it should help with keeping me calm during panic attacks. So, would this work? I have the antiemetics and such.

Thank you,

M

It isn't a sedative, it merely lowers your heart rate. The only time it'll make you go to sleep is when you take a MASSIVE overdose and lose consciousness. I know because I've done it and I'm prescribed it for anxiety, but it only relaxes you, because it lowers your heart rate, like I said. In big doses it's different.

Unconscious then death, but unfortunately I didn't die, and I took a massive overdose, I reckon I need to double it. I was so unconscious I didn't even feel a needle going in my arm, repeatedly in order to take blood from me.

One tablet won't do shit, you'll need at least 2, but they work over a course of 4 hours. Hopefully doc gave you the 40mg ones. Don't take too many or you won't be able to move in 5-10 minutes, and you'll be unconscious shortly after that so you won't be able to take the SN

Ah, so they can knock you out when in high enough doses? Yeah, I have the 40mg. How many do you recommend to take for the high dose? I plan on taking them after the sn, so no worries there. Vomiting will be the biggest issue, but I might be able to manage that.

Thank you!

No point after the SN, you'll vomit everything up and they take time to work unless you take a massive dose.

It doesn't knock you out in the way you think. First, you won't be able to move at all, you won't feel sleepy or anything, just unable to move, then a massive urge to lay down that you can't help. You won't be sleepy at all, it's just your heart rate is so low you can't move. Eventually, you'll just go unconscious and you won't realise it. And it'll get worse because propranolol is usually slow release.

But, that's with a massive overdose.

Pointless if you're using SN

Probably better to take 2-4 hours before SN. I'm not a doctor. It depends on each individual, I'm just basing it off my own experience

Ah alright, thank you! You've been a ton of help, I'll keep this all in mind when I finally decide. And yeah, I'll look into it more.
