Poll: How do you want your body to be disposed of after you die?

I just told my mother today that I don't want any funerals, graves, ceremonies or memorials once I die. I told her I want cremation and my ashes to be spread in a forrest. She took is very easily actually and told me that she would consider my wishes. I just want to return to nature once I die.

Well I dont know how true that is but either way than keep my organs research if they wish if there no good to anyone else

Rather than donating organs I instructed to donate all my things. May be someone is needing them. But I wish they wont tell the recipients where they come from otherwise no one will want anything from a dead person. Of course, some stuff will be delivered to my family or friends, but clothes or other stuff will be distributed to those in need.

If possible, I'd like my organs to be given to those in need. I've been blessed with a healthy body, and it would make me happy if someone else could get another shot at life with one of my organs.

That is very nice of you. I do voluntary work at my local food bank, so I know how unfair the economy is to people.

Wow. My mom would have freaked if I said that. She's always had the stance that a parent should never have to bury their child at any point...although, obviously that happens all the time in this world even when they don't commit suicide because this world is full of death traps...

No cremation, thanks. I know you wouldn't feel it, but the thought of it concerns me.

I've had a fear of this since I was a kid. It's totally irrational and obviously I know better, but I was always afraid maybe you somehow got stuck in your body and would be forced to endure that.

Never shook the phobia, so no cremation for me! Don't really care other than that.

It's important to note that my brother died almost 10 years ago. So, she have experience with their own children dying, basically. I guess that's one of the reasons why I'm able to talk with her about this issue in a calm and rational manner. And we both know how important these wishes are for people who die. And she understands the reasons behind this.

No, but they know I'm suicidal and I also told my mum that it could happen. It's important for me to be as open as possible and prepare them as much as I can.

Ideally, I would like my body donated to science. Many organizations also offer to cremate at no cost and return your remains when they're through with you. It is entirely possible that one can be denied for any reason. So, assuming the cadaver idea fails, I'd like my body harvested for useful tissue and then cremated. I don't entirely know what I'd want done with the ashes though.

I totally hear you on this. It's sounds great to me, too.

But the reality is, unless you're good at getting far into the remote backcountry somewhere very isolated, chances are better than not that someone will find your remains in a few days at most. For example, backcountry in the national parks in the USA won't be remote enough for you to remain unfound longer than a week, unless you're very strong and good at orienteering off trail, and can get very far from any trails in one of the larger and more inaccessible parks (like Olympic National Park or the North Cascades National Park.) Places like Mt. Rainier, Yellowstone, Glacier, pretty much any national parks or "wilderness" areas in the Southwest USA or California, there's a very good chance your remains will be spotted within a week. Forget remaining unfound or unnoticed anywhere east of the Mississippi. You'd do better in Canada or Alaska, where some of the national and provincial parks are just crazy rugged and remote. It's tough to get very far into them, though.
