Why is it considered to be a correct hanging when the neck is broken, but the head does not come off? It is clear that such remains take longer to remove, but is there any difference in the sensations for the hanged person in these two outcomes? And if not, then why not always fall from the maximum height, so as not to accidentally have to suffer from asphyxia, which, to put it mildly, is not very pleasant? I do not understand at all why people so often choose death by asphyxia, when there is practically the same option, but faster and less painful.
