This is what happens under socialism/communism. Initially all the handouts/benefits promised by the government are timely and plentiful to get people hooked on benefits. Then other people's money begins to run out to support the people who need assistance. Then u end up having to wait many months or years to get help u needed forever ago. This also applies to healthcare, at first gov run healthcare appears to work but after awhile it's not sustainable. People need to be able to afford their own healthcare on their own and plan privately for their retirement because government does not care about u. The whole thing is a scam and would not be possible without fraud. All this stuff is goin to run out because it's not sustainable longterm. Taxation is theft.

And under capitalism, most people simply can't afford the healthcare they need and it becomes so expensive for people to become doctors, there aren't enough doctors around so people have to wait a long time in order to see one... In the USA, it's like 200K nowadays to become a doctor? And if you become disabled, your life is over. So the solution is to simply get rid of money or use force to get the money needed for your people or remove the people in power who are fucking things up for everyone else. Any kind of working system not being properly run, intentionally or unintentionally can lead to these problems.

Yeah, that's the ironic thing - Bezos runs what amounts to human abbetoirs and lives the high life every day, while we allow people the freedom to do what they want and get chastised. The article is taking things way out of context too, as if people here were egging her on. They weren't. There's a huge difference between saying "you do you, good luck" and someone like that Michelle Carter girl, who actually told her bf to go ahead and do it.
Carter had told him to get help many times in the year preceding his final attempt. The jury completely ignored that. Ignored his history of attempts.

The 1800s in the USA was a more progressive time period than the USA today... Because at least back then, all the insane people were living in only a few parts of the country. Compared to then, almost everything is illegal today. Nobody would hunt you down and try to lock you up for being suicidal back then. People were less religious back then. I mean back then, most people didn't really give a shit about sex, drugs, alcohol, gambling and violence...

Any kind of welfare in the USA can be summarized by people applying for it and then waiting for it and then given a BS excuse why they can't have it.
Yes I have tried everything attorneys, advocates, DHS, Medicade, SSA. Every department forgets about me like I never even contacted them. Sad :(

No the inability to access or afford healthcare is because of socialist policies. You would never in a free market capitalist system have this situation where many people are too poor to afford basic healthcare or even more complex care. The problem is we live under what is called crony capitalism, basically special interests can bribe or lobby the government to alter how a free market would normally work. We haven't had mostly free market capitalism in the US in a very long time. Many people think we have been living under capitalism but public school, welfare state, central banks and federal reserve, are very much about socialism/communism. Nationalized or socialized healthcare is obviously not free market healthcare, the gov regulates it and meddles with the incentive structure. The care and treatments u can receive are determined by gov, your choices are limited under socialism because the FDA, another gov agency will crowd out alternative more effective treatments that could cure u. There are people who don't want u to be cured for a variety of reasons.

Fill this form out, wait 6 months, you filled out the wrong form this is the right one, wait 6 months, denied for invalid reason, denied again for invalid reason, hearing doesnt call you when they have a time and date scheduled. At this point can A. Restart the process and apply again or B. give up because it will just be the same each time. The Medicade system for dummies right here.

I would gladly take the stand and testify about how this government has failed me repeatedly. I have volumes of proof from many different government agency's. So please give me that chance, but you wont because stuff like this never hits news. It is a pointless battle.

Yeah. It's not like the entire country was like the south in the 1800s. And most of the horrible shit that happened back then is happening today but people are too brainwashed to notice it. The USA is not going backwards in time, the USA is going in an entirely new Nazi Germany like direction.

She was the one who paid, ordered and took SN. We didn't do it for her. She was really determined to CTB and I believe that she would have done it differently without SS, in a more painful method. Sometimes life is no longer enjoyable and nothing would have helped it. The family is having the wrong fight. The real question is what went down ? Was it the therapy, the struggles, etc even though it might never be answered.
Some members even claimed that SS saved their life because they're free to express their dark thoughts without being judged, without having to face a pro life who tells you what to do. Oppressing never worked.

It saves me everyday. I have a place where I can talk and let stuff out. I dont have an outlet irl due to no insurance to see a doctor. I can only speak this way with a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or my PCP. So I do it here, I do not think it is unhealthy at all. My doctors have said not to hold onto things, and let them out.

Some days I actually avoid the ctb posts and will read recovery threads. I have found some good coping skills doing this actually.

The commentary on the FB page is getting worse and worse, had to stop reading it because I've been trying to let this subject fade out,

what site is this from?

I've stopped looking at the FB page. Can someone post that succinct summary from the other site on the mother's page? It'll be deleted, but someone will read it. And then someone else can post it ... and so on.

I mean her daughter is gone and she will never be able to come back. Doesnt matter to me the circumstance behind it, but I understand that feeling. It is a big deal losing someone. :( It is extremely sad and heartbreaking to me anytime someone suicides. Whether I know them or not. I have been there multiple times I just survived all three times. Feeling this way is awful and I wish I knew a way around it myself.

They are human as well and they do have feelings.

I can see where they are coming from and how some of this can been seen as antaginizing for them and people here as well. I dont look at what's going on or anything other than what is posted here, but I do think there should be some level of respect from us. Just my thoughts on the subject. Not meaning to offend anyone just my thoughts. <3

I am truly astounded by this comment on the latest facebook post:
"they are mad because you are making change. You have brought awareness to their private world. A world in which they could talk the talk, but were too afraid to walk the walk. Unfortunately, for Shawn, she wasn't like these cowards. When she spoke, she meant it. I wish she had more than 8 posts in there, but she wasn't there to watch like the rest of them are "

Calling us cowards for not having yet gone through with suicide? That is 100 times more encouraging of suicide than anything I have ever seen on this site. Anyone here who even hints at someone being a coward for not going through with it or for failing gets banned.

I don't know how they can want a bunch of miserable and/or physically sick people seeking support and information as we try to exit this world to go to jail. And at the same time suggest we should be offing ourselves. Shawn deserved compassion, and so do we.

I am hesitant to post this because I don't want to get blasted on facebook like others have been... but I just had to vent this. It is disturbing to be called a coward and a voyeur for not having killed myself in a timely manner.

I just thought about it. @lululoo those posts are harassing all of us and while I don't attach value to them I know other people do. Maybe we can report them on Facebook itself.

I understand that they are grieving but this isn't grief anymore this is passing blame onto other people. Calling us names isn't going to make her comeback. She made her own choice and we just supported it because we all know what it feels like.

Anyone following this ?

What are your thoughts
Agree with the majority... the family just wants someone to blame. I truly believe that others are angry and sad when someone CTB that it's more selfish on their part than ours. Sure it's sad to say goodbye, but why not try to understand how much pain we're in to empathize instead of criticize?

This story led me to this site and I have never felt more connected with others than I do now. I appreciate everyone's transparency and honest responses. We are supportive, we care, but we are not selfish. We are brave enough to say goodbye when the timing is right for those who wish to CTB.

In their present mode of thinking, isnt that something like shouting "coward!" when somebody is at the edge of jumping.?

In the year 2019 in the USA, trying to save up money so I can CTB the way I want to while the economy is dog shit instead of desperately jumping off a bridge or hanging myself as soon as possible etc = cowardice. Okay... Yet these same people, would curl up into a ball and cry like a baby when face to face with a massive amount of pain, suffering or death.

Blaming this website is like blaming someone in a hospital for pulling the plug on a human vegetable... That is like, chimpanzee level thinking... How about blaming the people who actually made her life so unbearable she wanted to commit suicide??? It's like blaming the manufacturer of a kitchen knife after someone tries to stab you to death... It's like eating McDonalds 3 times a day for years and blaming McDonalds for being obese... And every time someone steals a car, the GTA games are responsible for that...

Let's also all blame every murder done with a kitchen knife on Amazon...
