I cut my arm and I can see white skin and some kind of squishy lumpy looking beige-ish underlayer. It's kinda hard to make it out with all the blood. It won't stop bleeding it but it's not profusely bleeding. I would post a picture but I doubt it's allowed. But does that sound like a cut that needs stitches?

I don't even know why I did it. It was just impulsive but it was dumb because I don't even have band aids or anything to clean it.

I would immediately apply pressure to stop it from bleeding anymore, contact emergency services and explain that it was an accident if you don't want to be hospitalized, but please don't put yourself at risk of infection.

You have cut down to the fat layer, which is below all of your skin, and you definitely should go get stitches, especially if you do not have anything at home to take care of it. That cut was way too deep for self-harm. Try not to do that again in the future.

If you're not haemophiliac you're probably OK.
Hold the edges of the cut together, by any means you can (even plastic sticky tape or something like that). Don't try stitching it yourself.
If it's a deep cut, put some antiseptic on it if you have any. Strong alcohol (e.g. vodka) would do the job.

You can post a picture of it, just make sure to use a spoiler and add a trigger warning. You probably should look into getting stitches but if you don't then here is some info on how to care for it: https://styro.sh/

If you plan on getting stitches, then try getting there in the next 6-8 hours since they typically don't give stitches to wounds older than that.

I'm curious now on what the cut looks like but yeah, if it won't stop bleeding for like 10 minutes then start panicking.

It was down to the layer of fat. It's pretty wide or atleast wider then any other cut I've ever done.

Also thank you everyone for the advice I really appreciate it

This is how it looks. I couldn't get a good picture because it won't stop bleeding. I hope I did spoiler it right.

Stop worrying. You will be OK.
If you want to minimise the scar, then try to hold the edges of the cut together, as I already said.

I hate to sound like a total boomer like "back in my day we just pushed through," but most of the scars on my legs were just like that. If you're worried about infection, call ems. I was fine without medical attention, but it's one of those things where you'd have to keep a constant eye on it to avoid infection.

Not to be a parrot, but it does need stitches. If you can't like I can't, then listen to the other repleis and just keep applying pressure with a paper towel or a cloth towel or muslin cloth (do not use toilet tissue paper at all or cotton as the fibres will get left behind). Let it scab right now, and then when possible get bandages to wet heal (or just dry heal)!. If you can buy those closing tape (tape sutures I think).

but try not to stress, and if you can't get stitches it's not the end of the world (trust me! I'm a regular self harmer - not a competition just trying to reasssure you <3) and it will heal, it will just take a bit long.

@UninformedLover To add onto this, look into buying some saline solution or distilled water so that you can flush out the wound.
