Heya everyone, im planning on CTB in about 2-3 weeks (depending on how i feel), my method has changed from SN to partial (due to difficuiltes and anxiety regarding SN, especially after seeing videos of it), i was wondering the following:
- I got polypropylene film, 12mm in dimension and 30m in length (will obviously have to cut it shorter), does this sound right? I heard the material had high tensile strength and low flexbility and hence makes it optimal for partial.
- I do not want to traumatize the EMS when they do find me, i have heard alot of partial hangings have a result where the individual is found with their tounge swollen and sometimes blue, protuding out of their mouth. My question is: Is there any way to prevent this from happening, or atleast minimize the risk?

Thanks!

Get a static arborist rope from yale, samson, or Teufelberger (brand) U can buy it by the foot. They are also called kernmantle ropes. please don't use cheap Chinese ropes off Amazon. And make sure u have a proper anchor point.

And u don't need to cut the rope. u can let the excess rope hang off the bowline knot.

EMS see a lot of traumatic things much worse than a partial hanging. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Ah thank you for the advice! I chose this material because its from a decent vendor (not from a cheap chinese amazon company) and because it was recommended ^^

A PP rope is perfectly fine. Indeed, it has high tensile strength and low flexibility, which is ideal. Burn the ends with a lighter after you cut it to prevent fraying. For a neater result, you can also wrap tape around it before you cut it --> cut it right above the tape --> burn it --> take the tape off.

You can minimise the risk of swelling by ensuring there is enough pressure. Full suspension is a sure way. If you do partial, you can do it in a standing or an upright kneeling position where the knees are only slightly bent. Avoid doing partial in a lying or sitting position – there is significantly less force on the rope in those positions. Kneeling with the knees sharply bent can also be risky, because it can easily become a sitting position if you miscalculate the height.
