In the past there was a wide variety of websites to share writing of any kind. You name your niche, and there was a website.
Now you're hard pressed to find anything half decent.

After being disappointed with modern options for publicly sharing my writing online, I have decided to set up my own personal website.

I am sharing it here to both get views, and receive reviews on the website itself.
Please give me any thoughts or opinions on the website itself, and bring any problems you notice to my attention.

The process of setting up the website, configuring a CDN, a DNS, and responding to security issues, etc. has been a huge learning process. Lacking any real funds, I have not had any automated assistance, only able to spare about $10 monthly total. Which means everything had to be done manually, learning as I went.

Also I already am aware that the posts kind of cram my poetry together in a mashed up sentence. I don't know how to fix that, but when you click the post, it opens up with normal formatting, and no issues.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I see what you did there.

I'm actually quite glad you made this. And you should be proud of it, too!
When I promised I'd read your writings on your other websites, I meant it. And then I wasted my two free views of the month on misclicks 😳
So, I've had those sites open in tabs waiting for them to refresh, haha. I'll take a look at this new website this weekend. It looks good!

Thank you, and everyone else here for the positive feedback on my writing! Ive been nervous about sharing. Even though some of my current work dates back to 2017 (I lost everything prior), I only started sharing with others about 2 years ago.

Unfortunately I do not know how to code.
I used WordPress, and a free theme someone else made. That said the process was still difficult for a first timer, and I had tried some other designs, giving up atter a lot of failed effort.

Anyone can do the same if they do their research, put in some effort, and the more money you have, the easier it gets as services will automate some stuff.

I can't put it in the FAQ for security reasons, but im using Vultr as my host, and Bunny as my CDN.

I also am using cloudflare nameservers, and bought my domain with porkbun.

All of these are great choices, and budget friendly.

Sorry for the essay reply!
However, there are many great options outside of my choices.

Update: For anyone who is interested in starting their own projects, I will be sharing updates on my learning experience here.

After receiving constant spam comments on my website, I started researching solutions. There are multiple solutions available free, however I had to find the one that suited my small little website best.

I have decided to use cloudflare turnstile as my solution. It is free, lightweight, and as of right now, I have not had any spam. My website now must veirfy you as a human before you can access post comments. Unlike captcha challenges, at most you will have to click a button that says you're human.

I have tried adding an option to sign up for a weekly news letter of new posts/changes, and positive messages.
However, SMTP with Gmail will always display my actual email when sending news letters. The solution is a proton email, but they have SMTP services behind a paid subscription. This is a huge barrier as I'm disabled without actual income.

I have a friend bringing me a bunch of stuff he has been storing for me since I lost my home. I hope to sell a lot of it, and use some of that money to cover the annual cost of approx. $80. Normally I would drop this service due to cost, but I really want to grow my website. This project has become very special to me, and is helping me stay sane.

I'm happy to answer any questions related to setting up this website for anyone trying to do the same.
Sharing this experience has been therapeutic, making me feel a little less alone.

Thank you, and im glad you came away with a positive experience.

Honestly I havent gotten much traffic (less than 10 visitors I think) having only shared here so far while I work on it. However, I am always surprised everytime someone enjoys my work. I really appreciate the feedback from everyone.

If by exchange you mean sharing yours, I'd be bappy to check it out.

So, I read your poetry, and while they are all very good, I have a few favorites.

Revelry of the Accursed is full of gripping imagery. It reminds me of all of those Halloween and Day of the Dead tales where the deceased rise once a year for a night of supernatural revelry. The pacing was perfect, without a single word wasted. Love it.

Carol is, of course, just beautiful. I already praised it in your one other thread, but it bears repeating. This type of theme fits your writing style well and marks the beginning of a new chapter in your growth as a poet.

The dual meaning behind The Fear of Nothing is hauntingly poignant. It turns nihilism into a specter and the meaninglessness in suffering into its own type of
suffering, almost paradoxically. Such a bittersweet final message as well. Chilling and relatable.

Keep up the great work! And I love your new pfp. She could be SaSu's mascot, lol

Thank you again for your kind words, and generous feedback.

Revelry of the Accursed is an interesting one. It's one of the few inspired by images in my mind which captivate me. It was probably a combination of my narcolepsy & a minor psychotic episode, but a scene played briefly in my head while I was lost in thought.

I never shared this before, though there is no particular reason for it.

I could try to describe it clearly, however it wouldn't be accurate. My vision was not merely a scene played out on film. It came with a feeling, a moving of my soul that I cannot put to words. There was a story told not in my ears, but in my chest. It was as if a silent film could tell stories with emotions placed inside you.

This is as close as I can come to sharing how I experienced it. It falls short greatly, but c'est la vie.

A humble graveyard of crumbling stones
A hill small in size, green with grass
The air silver with moonlight
The moon large, hovers close
A woman lone, dancing graceful yet free
Her dress long, hem in tatters
Her mouth carries death
Her touch corrupts
Carrion birds feed not in her wake
A Partner skeletal, invited to join
A macabre union, dancing in celebration

Probably should have mentioned this.
Read that not as a poem, that was actually not my intention when writing it.

Read each sentence as its own independent scene, picturing that specific image close, but moving past you quickly. Each scene is the briefest of glimpses. Each sentence is its own story.

Only at the end, when you have finished the final story, should you put it together, and picture the entire scene as a fluid beautiful story.

I saw glimpses, quick flashes, zoomed in close on individual elements, with en emotional knowledge of their story in my chest.

You described that very interestingly. It felt dream-like, just from reading it.

I'm sorry to hear that you have narcolepsy. Is that the disability I've heard you mention? Forgive me if you've said it elsewhere, my memory can be a bit cheesy, you know—filled with holes.

In any case, I, too, have sleep issues that leave me with bizarre episodes. It's some form of sleep paralysis that occasionally causes reality to blur with often hellish dreamscapes. You've heard of sleep paralysis demons, right? Well, with me, it's not a consistent entity, but really anything. It can take some time before I realize I'm awake and hallucinating either creatures, landscapes, or even sensations like falling, pain, emotional distress, etc. Does any of this sound similar to your condition?

Anyway, I didn't mean to detract from your thread. I just wanted to say that what you described sounds familiar. Maybe not the exact scene, but the way it played out for you. I can almost picture it. Or should I say, feel and experience it.

I have Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, among other things. My brain has no divide between asleep/awake, only between conscious/unconscious. In either state by brain will enter/exit REM repeatedly. While I am walkin/talking I'm in/out of REM. While I'm sleeping it will disrupt the sleep cycle with out of order REM stages, and full "awake" activity. I am always under the effects of 48-72 hours sleep deprivation, tired from the moment I wake. I do not know what it is like to not be tired, and that is a literal, factual statement.

The Cataplexy gives me weakness at varying degrees both gradual, and sudden, in all muscles. It can even cause temporary paralysis.

Some people with it have frequent sleep paralysis, fortunately I have only had it twice. I have seen many many stories about it in online support groups.

Nightmares are frequent if not nightly for a lot of us, so I do relate to some degree with you. Other members narcolepsy online groups have told me my dreams are so much worse than theirs that they would ctb because they could not live with them.

I am no stranger to nightly suffering, even if it's a different experience. I can imagine how terrible you must feel dealing with your condition as well.

I'm terribly sorry to hear that. But thank you for being so open about it. It sounds exhausting, not just physically, but in every sense of the word. I hope that somehow, some treatment or cure is found for you.

I am having trouble getting my website to point to my cdn.
It should be cnd.imeavie.me pointing to www-imeavie-me.b-cdn.net.
However, I am unable to get it to work despite following everything step by step.
I have set up the CNAME on both my host, and Cloudlflare.

I briefly had it working, but disabled it while trying to fix a time out when trying to login as an admin.
Now its back to not working again just like it did before.

If anyone has any experience with this, I would appreciate any advice. Otherwise, stay tuned for the next update when
I resolve this.

(If you happen to see any spelling typos, please don't hesitate to inform me of it in a private message. I am disabled, and typing can be difficult which leads to many typos. I try to catch them, but some slip through the cracks)

I can't help with your tech problems, sorry (edit: aren't there many websites devoted to this sort of thing?), but I just wanted to say what amazing work this is.
Even more so since you say you had to learn everything about building the website as you went along.
Your writing and the content is fantastic (sorry I know that's a lame thing to say and doesn't do it justice, your poetry has left me feeling embarrassingly stumped for words :-)
Well done you. Great stuff. You have a talent, someone should snap you up into a well paying job in creative writing/content creation, if you want one.
Sending you positive vibes.

I have tentatively removed the requirement to enter an email when commenting. This was originally implemented with reluctance as my only solution to stop bots from spamming scams in my comments. I believe Cloudflare should prevent this now, but if humans start manually spamming my website or posting inappropriate content, future comments will require email again. Your first comment should need manual approval from myself, and then all future comments will automatically be approved.

Should emails be required, feel free to make a new one for this purpose, or use a service that provides a temporary one such as https://www.guerrillamail.com (I am unaffiliated with, and have not used their services. This was recommended by a few people on reddit). Any emails previously entered will never be used, saved outside of the website, revealed to a 3rd party, or violated in anyway. I am the only person with access to the admin panel of my website.

If you have previously made a comment with your email, you may simply copy the comment, and submit it. I will then remove the old one, and the email associated it will be removed as a result.

The email/website fields are still visible, but are NOT required. I cannot remove them at this time.
Please do NOT use them, and as always, stay safe.

You may also notice that I have added a feature to drop a small donation with Ko-fi if you wish to help support the monthly costs of my server. I refuse to allow ads on my website, and pay for everything solely out of my own pockets. Donations are not required, and I am not asking for anyone to donate anything other than their time to read my works. My website is, and always will be free to use. When I am more financially stable, I will remove the feature all together.
If you wish to donate more than your time, you can simply drop a comment on my website telling me how my works have made you feel, as that is worth its weight in gold for me.

That being said, I have written something new, and as always it can be found on my website @ imeavie.me
Feel free to visit, and drop a comment if you wish. I will share it here as well since I am already writing this post.

Out of Reach
Do you remember when we were kids, and we tried to visit an abandoned town nearby? You kept walking so fast, unburdened by the journey, while I was struggling to keep pace with you. I saw how your face was so full of joy that it was as if the sunlight blinding my eyes was radiating from you in front of me. I couldn't bring myself to ask you to slow down for my sake, to allow myself to hold you back. I had to stop to breathe, and in that moment, as the sun set, I watched your light vanish from my sight. I was alone, lost in the darkness, with only your memory to keep me company.

It has always been this way—watching you so easily, so happily moving forward with your life as I struggled to follow behind. You always seemed to stay just out of my reach despite my efforts to stay by your side, out of breath and struggling to keep going.

One day, I couldn't keep moving forward; I had to stop. I had to breathe. I found myself still unable to slow you down, to burden you with my own exhaustion. I once more saw your radiant light fading from my vision, and I was clinging desperately to your memory.
