Near-Death Experiences

What are your thoughts on near-death experiences, and have they changed your perception of the afterlife or reduced any fears of CTB? I'm not religious or spiritual, but near-death experiences have always intrigued me.

I'll share a personal experience of mine: My father suffered a stroke before I was born and the doctors said he was on his death bed. Thankfully, he managed to survive but had to relearn everything, including basic functions. In the aftermath of his experience, he recounted seeing a vision of me and knowing that my mother was pregnant, despite her not telling him.
He even pointed out which day she find out she was pregnant. She never told him, as he was in a coma when she heard the news, so how could he possibly know such a detail? It's a little freaky. He also said he experienced his life flashing before his eyes; he said that's the best way he could describe what he saw.

While this certainly provides comfort, part of me still knows that this could all be the theatrics of a dying brain. Even then, the peaceful visions seen before passing are still a source of comfort.

It definitely makes me more comfortable, I'm not spiritual or religious, I hold out that there are other explanations for the seemingly supernatural qualities of NDEs; coincidences, misrememberings, etc. But I still think it says that our bodies are, in some way, designed to die and know what to do when the time comes, to comfort us.That it is indeed just another part of life.

 

[Tomorrow Is Today]

I was unfortunate (or fortunate?) enough to have had an NDE when I was younger. 10 years ago during a family vacation I was stung by a box jellyfish. I was basically dead at one point and was resuscitated by CPR.

From my point of view I suddenly just woke up at the hospital. It was honestly kind of underwhelming in the sense that there wasn't any of the romanticised flashbacks or out-of-body experiences some may have had. On hindsight maybe it felt that way because we just stop existing.
