Venting My friend's brother killed himself

2 days ago my friends younger brother killed himself so I've been seeing him post about it and it's really confirmed that the greatest form of suicide prevention for me is seeing how it hurts others. Seeing my friend post these photos of his brother smiling like he doesn't have a care in the world, seeing him say his brother was his best friend and the best thing in his life. I'm very close with my sister and just imagining how she'd feel if I did it. My parents too, they care so much and I just know they'd blame themselves. And I know my friends would be so hurt too. I can't do that to my sister. She doesn't deserve to go through that kind of pain of losing her little brother.

Thank you. I've always stayed alive solely for the sake of my loved ones but in the past 2 years and especially after this, it's only become clearer to me just how important it is that I stay alive, so that my family doesn't have to go through something like this.

My friend's family is in another country so I won't be able to visit but I will continue reaching out and offering my support for my friend.

I understand but some of us are in such bad situations I don't care who I hurt or inconvenience when the time comes. The pain of living supersedes any feelings that they have. But I honestly dont think anyone I know would care deep down. They would only care telling others and how others would perceive them that I died.

My condolences, I hope he found peace wherever he is, I also wonder what my family and friends will feel after I ctb, I mean it wont stop me for doing it but it will definetely hurt them

I'm so sorry. And you have hit upon the very reason I stay. My son. We spent so many years apart that even if I lived to 100 it wouldn't make up with the time we lost ... But still ... I cannot do that to him. So ... Until old age finally gives me something terminal, so I can have an "acceptable" reason to go -- one that will not have him second-guessing why I have left this world -- I will stay.

my condolences, i also lost a good friend recently and learned really that "pain we feel in life just gets spread through death", but it is a lot of pain for one person to hold
i planned to ctb but i cannot so close to his passing, it would hurt our friends even more, every time i get close i think about new reason to keep trying, and i think of my friend(s)
