Kid Cudi-Day And Nite (Original and Crookers Mixes)
Uh, uh
Uh, uh
Uh, uh
Day 'N' Nite
(What, what?)
I toss and turn, I keep stressin' my mind, mind
(What, what?)
I look for peace, but see, I don't attain
(What, what?)
What I need for keeps, this silly game we play, play
Now look at this
(What, what?)
Madness to magnet keeps attracting me, me
(What, what?)
I try to run, but see, I'm not that fast
(What, what?)
I think I'm first but surely finish last, last
'Cause day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone through the day 'n' nite
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
Day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone, some things will never change
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
Hold the phone
(What, what?)
The lonely stoner, Mr. Solo Do Low
(What, what?)
He's on the move, can't seem to shake the shade
(What, what?)
Within his dreams he sees the life he made, made
The pain is deep
(What, what?)
A silent sleeper you won't hear a peep, peep
(What, what?)
The girl he wants don't seem to want him too
(What, what?)
It seems the feelings that she had are through, through
'Cause day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone through the day 'n' nite
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
Day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone, some things will never change
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
Slow mo
(What, what?)
When the tempo slows up and creates that new, new
(What, what?)
He seems alive though he is feelin' blue
(What, what?)
The sun is shinin', man he's super cool, cool
The lonely nites
(What, what?)
They fade away, he slips into his white Nikes
(What, what?)
He smokes a clip and then he's on the way
(What, what?)
To free his mind in search of, to free his mind in search of
To free his mind in search of
Day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone through the day 'n' nite
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
Day 'n' nite
The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite
He's all alone, some things will never change
The lonely loner seems to free his mind at nite
(A-a-at nite)
(A-a-at nite)
Na na na na na na Kid Cudi
Cleveland status, grind all day
Cleveland status, grind all night
Cleveland status, grind all day
Cleveland status, grind all night
Dude, Kid Cudi helped me so much. I remember when I first heard Day n Nite, Mr. Rager, etc. and I was blown away, because never before had I heard my feelings that I had in my head being put into actual words before. I was 12-13 I think, and it's as if somebody had opened my soul. To this day, he is one of my go-to's
I have excellent coping mechanisms. I can always suppress my suffering. I never cry.
But when my mother finally died of cancer after months of extreme suffering and many weeks of dying in agony, my coping mechanisms were put to the hardest test yet.
***
They passed the exam. I didn't cry.
But to suppress my suffering, I had to help my coping mechanisms a lot. Be constantly occupied with the stupidest possible activity, such as playing on the computer.
But that wouldn't be enough.
***
I hate listening to music in the background for other activities. I listen to a piece of music just like I read a book or watch a movie - that is, I actually only focus on getting to know the piece.
But then I turned on one of the Internet radios to accompany me in the game, and after a dozen or so minutes they broadcast this song.
***
I don't like this type of music and I don't appreciate it. But there was something so addictive and fascinating about this song that it was perfect for distracting me.
In the first week after my mother died, I must have listened to it in the background at least a few hundred times.
I still don't appreciate it, but I appreciate that it helped me get through that time easier.
