RHCP: an all time great. Out of all their songs, this one has always resonated with me the most. A lot of times when I felt like things were getting "too much" I'd run away for a while, often to the nearest major city. I'd just drive around for the hell of it. No place in mind, no idea when I'd come back. I don't know what it was; but I found solace in the sea of dark streets and glistening high-rises. Because I "never wanna feel like I did that day", I go to "the place I love". Sometimes it felt like the only things that undrstood me were the empty boulevards and mesmerizing skyscrapers.


This one has an upbeat and energetic vibe to it. I feel like the song is about someone who fights for his cause until the bitter end. Any price has been paid already, so what's left to lose? Any hurt that was felt has calcified into vengeance.


Where do I even start with this one? I feel like this song represents what it's like to bottle yourself up in front of someone you think is your "friend", but leaves you for dead when the chips finally fall. Having gone through this firsthand, it hurts.


Of course I had to include a song by my favorite band. There's something so beautifully haunting about this track in particular.


Here's another one that just speaks to me on a spiritual level. It's about someone who's been put through so much that they're not even the same person anymore. They're left yearning for simpler days, lamenting every regret that led them here; all the while those around them reject what they've become. In the end, it seems like they give up.
"Have another go my friend. You see I can't feel anymore."
There comes a time when you just become numb to the pain.
