Like slapping mud back onto an eroding slope, right before a heavy rain

This is what my life feels like. I now know that any attempt to better my life (the mud) is pointless, because something will come (the rain), either by my own hand or others, to wipe away the progress and leave me (the slope) more broken down than before.

So why keep trying? All of these efforts are futile and I just become more and more tired, more agitated that the future brings no peace.

I'm definitely getting close to the end.
