There was a problem uploading my file. :/ Basically they're pretty white with a sort of hot red glow around them. I have them just outside the tent now. The bucket is emitting a fair bit of heat, is that likely to be a problem? I'll put it on a heat mat but I mean in terms of melting the tent roof.
There is bound to be some heat, hope it isn't too much for the tent's interior. But I don't think that it would actually burn the tent roof unless there is direct contact.

Do your coals look like these?

Yes... I'm in the tent with them now. Trying to be as calm as possible. I'm in my sleeping bag and at least they're helping me stay warm. I took the sedatives and a little alcohol but should probably drink more.

Also, it's a good tent, so hopefully it can withstand the heat.

I'm definitely not about to pass out yet, but I will put my music in soon and try to sleep. I just said a prayer, assuming I do die, just in case God exists.

Guys, I'm not dead... fuck. I was 100% ready to go. 2 and a half hours in the tent with coals and I woke up, alive (I think I just went to sleep before). Does this mean I should give up? I mean, not on dying, just on dying by the method today.

I wish I didn't get the error message with pictures. I checked the coals and there's still a faint glow and they're very white and ashy. I'm shivering a lot but I think that's just the cold and I don't even have a bad headache or sickness.

I'm seriously thinking the tent might not be well-insulated. I mean, I'm freezing cold.

By that, I mean, I know you are 100% serious. You've clearly put a lot of time and thought and planning into it .. you tried hard last night and over the past few days to perfect it but it's frustrating I know. it hasn't worked. You really tried, but to me it sounds like this method right this moment in time isn't working - and that is ok. I'm sure you are upset that you woke up , trust me I know how it feels when it's failed in the past. It's bad. But I think it would be better pack up tent and maybe go somewhere warm and get yourself some food and stuff. I sent you a pm

Hugs

I had the same result only it was in a car. Tents are warm if you throw a plastic tarp over them. For years afterward i couldent stand the smell of a bbq. I remember the devasting fuck no feeling well. Sorry it dident work out for you.

If it was a 4 man I'm going to assume your tent had a separate groundsheet? If so I'd guess that's where the problem is, sorry for your experience.

I checked the coals and there's still a faint glow and they're very white and ashy.

Thats when they're pushing out maximum CO and minimal C02. Perfect. 3hrs after you lit them.
People are in such a rush with this method no wonder most fail as they don't wait long enough for the charcoal to be ready. It should look like a pile of grey mashed potato, glowing faintly or now not glowing at all.

Yep, even a full 12 hours after I had a barbecue the coals were still releasing mild heat which means still producing CO. get the timings and patience right and it's a good method.

Fuck... trying to insulate the tent better did not go well. I'm going to go ahead anyway. I just can't wait anymore. It would be a sick joke if I survive when people who don't even want to die are dropping off in tents from inhaling CO by accident.

Hopefully I die. If not, I'll either wake up alive tomorrow or be brain damaged. Hopefully that won't happen given I'm leaving a DNR sign and I highly doubt my mother would want to keep me alive for long as a vegetable.
oof idea having a DNR.

Sorry but a DNR has to be signed by a doctor for it to mean anything, paramedics will resuscitate in all situation unless you have a doctor signed proper DNR. and you won't get one of those unless you're old/terminally ill.

This story is useful. Remember it was an accident so his injuries can be ignored from a suiciders viewpoint.
But the timings are useful. They took it in 5 hours after it was lit when 'there was no heat in it at all' but she still died.

Now suppose they had taken it in at the 2, 3, or 4 hour point there is no doubt he would have died too.

I see stories of people wanting to light it indoors or take it in still red hot or flaming or smoking still. Absaloutely wrong in every way. Dangerous and wrong. You must be patient with this method. Like everything is in slow motion.

Off topic why not blow yourself away? I don't have a gun but my mortgage payment could buy me one. Sorry it sounds complicated but I feel I could do hanging. Nobody around

Okay, so after i sent the first message my phone died. I went back to sleep (the charcoal was just basically ash by this point) and woke up around 6 hours later, alive and with a headache and some flu-like symptoms. By this point I was pretty sure I wouldn't die so I went out to charge my phone. I then booked two more nights at this campsite. I'm now heading to an outdoor shop I found about an hour away. Hoping to try again tonight with this method. I really really want it to work, I'm determined. If I fail again after trying to fix the problems from last night I will probably have another go at hanging myself the next day, either partial or I'll get another stool and try to muster up the courage for full suspension.

I feel I have two options: buy a cheapish 2-person pop-up tent with a shit hydrostatic head (1200 maybe) and either put it inside the tent I have already or erect it next door. I went for an expensive 3000 hydrostatuc head and 4-person tent based on 8chan advice but the skins turned out to not be properly connected and the tent was definitely larger than needed. Or, try to find something to put on top of the inner layer while standing outside, before putting the outer layer on, that will cover the whole thing and can then be duct taped. Maybe even try bin liners again but from the outside this time. I would have to wait till it was dark to do that though and hope the sound of duct tape didn't cause people to look out of their tents.

I'm not American so I highly doubt I could get a gun license as an anti-hunting vegan with documented psychiatric admissions.

What tent did you use? Separate groundsheet is a terrible idea... you can get a pop up 2 or 3 man with taped seams and hydrostatic of 3000mm. Good luck. Honestly nobody can give you really good advice if we dont know what tent you're using and stuff.
