Knot or no knot?

As you can see here, he was successful in hanging without even using a knot. Do you think this method is better and quicker for blocking the carotid?

Interesting. I can't really tell what the material of the hanging noose is - also, this guy really had some self restraint to not have bound hands or feet and not even a closed noose and still accomplished his goal…. Much respect.

It looks like it wouldn't be to hard to fall out of that if a person flailed around. I wouldn't risk it and possibly end up brain damaged.

And as someone who cant tie a knot , this does seem like an alternative but im not sure how it would work .
I agree with hollowman too you can fall back and end up just brain damaged.

A big loop will do the job, obviously. A good slip knot guarantees it gets done, possibly passing out faster since it compresses everything.

ello The rope force on the photo is half of the bodyweight. If you use a slip knot without friction the rope force is equal to the bodyweight. The pressure on the neck is directly proportional to the rope force but also inversely proportional to the diameter of the rope. You need only a certain amount of pressure to block your carotides, additional pressure effects only additional pain. I would prefere a slip knot to be sure that I will not fall down.
