Is there any way the hanging can fail?

Ive read on here about people losing consciousness and waking up after a while.
Does the position of the noose cause it? Im planning on positioning it almost at the top of my neck with the knot behindd my neck.
And when i tried to hang myself there was more pressure on trachea then the sides of my neck

Me,too I can't get it right had 2 failed attempts I put it around hyoid but it keeps failing
