Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

It seems like most anti-choice people bucket all suicide into the same "selfish" bin. I think it comes with the taboo territory of suicide. While there are situations were suicide can be selfish, there are many times where it isn't. And for those people that aren't comfortable or don't have the perspective to understand suicide, immediately saying it is selfish is a lot more comfortable. It leaves no gray area in reinforcing their world view.

As people on this site I think we can all look at our reasoning(writing this I realize I have insane bias to be pro-choice) for wanting to CTB and look at selfishness in that reasoning along with how our absence will affect other people.

One question I have is, while I know I'm depressed, I don't think it effects anything other than my mood and CTBness. Is there some sort of projection people have or are most people really so anti-choice for such flimsy reasons?

Yes and no. Yes- in terms of- we are likely putting our needs first when we do it. Plus- it likely will upset people. Still- I tend to think of selfish people as those who do socially unpleasant things for personal gain. In our cases- we aren't trying to gain anything. We are simply trying to escape.

Isn't it also selfish to keep someone in a situation they find intolerable for your own needs? Plus- I honestly think giving birth to a new entity is more selfish than choosing to end your own.

Ultimately- we didn't agree to this life. We didn't agree to any of it- we were just given a set of difficult circumstances and expected to just get on with it. But for whatever reason- we feel like we can't anymore.

It depends on your reasoning to CTB.

if it's a personal choice for you and you only and you've already made peace with it, that's not selfish. If anything you're doing something for you and that is okay. you risk looking selfish however when you start telling other parties- only because their response would be then asking why you would subject them to you wanting to CTB. that's when their suffering starts to develop and that's when the thought of being selfish comes in because you're "taking away" a life that they seem to value more than they assume you do.

It's very tricky, but wanting to CTB is not inherently selfish. You're allowed to make that choice for you if you're of sound mind. No one likes dealing with loss, but loss is guaranteed for everyone. The same way you're not selfish to yourself for changing your mind is the same way you're not selfish for committing to CTB

Hard to say. It's definitely anyone's right to die whenever and however they want. But it is really hard on those left behind. Especially if they're kids.
