  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Is suicide justified in all cases? No.
Brief specific example: You feel suicidal and want to end it. Yet you decide to have a child in this state. It's your obligation to be there for your child until it can maintain itself. If you're suffering, it's your fault and you should not inflict them pain for your selfish decision to have them in the first place.
This is my ethical viewpoint.

Nevertheless.
If legislation for euthanasia in country X passes, should it be available vor everyone? Yes. Even if it's the example above. Kid has other parent, a relative or orphanage. Only because it infringes my moral, doesn't mean the person shouldn't be able to have this option.

Well, since you're asking this question on a pro choice forum, i'm going to assume that most people here would say it is justified. Though there probably are limits or exceptions.
There seem to be some people on here though that believe that a person just stubs their toe one day and decides they're going to commit suicide because of that. I highly doubt most people are that blasé about it. Most of the people on here who want to end their lives are taking that position due to years, if not decades, of suffering and abuse and all other manner of horrific life situations. They didn't just wake up one day and out of the blue decide to end their lives for no reason whatsoever other than that they just decided they wanted to.

i'd love to say "never", but... as an example: if someone has been brazen enough to breed, abandoning their newborn to starve and die alone while they treat themselves to sweet oblivion strikes me as -- putting it as politely as i can -- fucking despicable.
