I've heard of cases where people arrange this. I wouldn't say it's strange, but it's important to consider possible impacts. This is a very taxing experience for the observer. Many may not feel comfortable with it. In other cases there have been people who wish to observe for unwholesome reasons. As it's hard to vet who you're speaking with on the Internet, this should be considered.

If you're able to find a person you trust, this may be a way to verify your ctb. Many others have done this. I see it as a brave choice that contributes to confirmed info for the community. I'm not encouraging this per se, but acknowledging how it contributes to the community. If this arrangement is made it would be good to protect the identity of the observer, as in some places this may be seen as assisting. Other users have arranged to have someone post on behalf of the observer.

I can understand the desire for this. Having some company in the end would provide some comfort.

Not at all, dying alone is a terrifying thought to most. In my case, it's a specific person that I wish to be on call with, I want to hear her voice one last time before I close my eyes forever.

I don't think it's an unusual or strange at all. Nobody wants to die alone. I'm always fearful that person may report me or get in trouble for not stopping me. It's a hard call, do what you feel is best for you.
